How to register and login

Open the Louisiana Medicaid Self-Service Portal and create an account with your email. The public tab lets new applicants apply, while existing recipients log in to manage an active case.

Even if you applied by mail, in person or over the phone, you can still register online to check status, report household and address changes, request a new Medicaid ID card and renew coverage.

Plan

Louisiana delivers most Medicaid through Healthy Louisiana managed care plans, including Healthy Blue, AmeriHealth Caritas, Aetna Better Health, Humana Healthy Horizons, Louisiana Healthcare Connections and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan.

Each plan offers the same core Medicaid services plus different extra benefits, so compare them before you choose.

How to activate

After your Medicaid is approved, activate your coverage by enrolling in a Healthy Louisiana plan. Call 1-855-229-6848 or log in at MyMedicaid.la.gov and open the Enrollment and Contact Information page.

You can also download the Healthy Louisiana app to get enrollment letters by email or text.

Manage your benefits

Use the portal to renew on time when your letter arrives, since missing the deadline ends coverage even if you still qualify. Send renewal forms by the listed email, fax or mail address on your letter.

Keep your mailing address current so your renewal packet reaches you, and respond quickly to any letter that lists Information We Need From You.
