Youtube Autoplay Keeps Turning On : Learn How to Turn Auto-Play Off
The auto-play feature on YouTube enables a ‘lean back’ experience and keeps videos playing without you having to select a new video when the video that you’re watching finishes.
You can choose to turn off the auto-play feature at any time using the toggle option available on the watch page

The Autoplay feature on YouTube makes it easier to decide what to watch next. When Autoplay is on, another related video will automatically play after a video ends.
Keep in mind:
- For users aged 13-17 on YouTube, Autoplay is turnedย offย by default. If youโre 18 or over, Autoplay is turnedย onย by default.ย All users can change their Autoplay settings.
- You can have different Autoplay settings for different devices. For example, you can set Autoplayย to be “On” in the YouTube app on your mobile device, butย set it to “Off” when watching YouTube on your computer.
- If you’re connected to a mobile network, Autoplay will stop automatically if you’veย been inactive for 30 minutes. If you’re on Wi-Fi, Autoplay will stop automatically after 4 hours.

At the end of a video, the video player will show whatโs going to play next. If you scroll past the video player or type something, like a comment or a search, the next video won’t automatically play.

To change your Autoplay settings on the YouTube app on your TV:
- Open the YouTube app on your TV.
- Go toย Settingsย

- Scroll toย Autoplay.
- Select the options to turn Autoplayย Onย orย Off.
Autoplay while casting to your TV
If youโve connected your TV to your phone or tablet, you can use your device to control Autoplay.
- Connect your mobile device to your TV device and pick a video to play.
- To expand your queue and viewย your Autoplay settings, tap the control bar at the bottom of the screen.
- Use the switch to turn Autoplay off.
Autoplay on your Google Assistant Smart Displays

If youโre using YouTube on your Smart Display and want to turn Autoplay on or off:
- Open the Home App on your mobile device.
- Tap the Smart Display you would like to modify.
- Tapย Settings.
- Tapย Notifications & digital wellbeing.
- Tapย YouTube Settings.
- There are two ways you can control Autoplay settings for your Smart Display:
- If youโre voice matched, Autoplay can be turned on or off for you, and
- Autoplay can be turned on or off for all other users.
