The Ohio Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formally known as the Food Assistance Program, is designed to raise nutritional levels, to expand buying power, and to safeguard the health and well being of individuals in low-income households in Ohio. A household may consist of an individual or a group of individuals who live together and usually purchase, prepare, and eat their food together.
Who is eligible for this program?
To be eligible for this benefit program, you must be a resident of the state of Ohio and meet one of the following requirements:
- You have current resources valued at $2,250 or less (examples include savings and checking combined) or
- You have current resources valued at $3,500 or less (examples include savings and checking combined) and share your household with one of the following:
- a person or persons age 60 and over or
- a person with a disability (a child, your spouse, a parent, or yourself).
