1. The Infrastructure Equipment Skill Council (IESC) is the apex body spearheading the skilling of workforce in the infrastructure equipment sector with primary focus on training and certification of machine operators and service mechanics in the initial phase.
2. Over the years growth in the infrastructure equipment sector has been synonymous with the economic health of the country. In 2010 the sale of construction equipment was around 60,000 units and expected to touch 300,000 units over the next decade. With existing shortage of skilled manpower coupled with this anticipated growth an overall requirement of nearly two million operators and mechanics was projected.
3. Since the existing Vocational Education System had failed to support the industry the Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (ICEMA) proposed the setting up of an apex body to spearhead the skilling of workforce in the Infrastructure Equipment (IE) Sector which was finally accepted after serious deliberations at all levels.
4. Accordingly the Infrastructure Equipment Skill Council (IESC) a ‘Not for Profit’ sustainable organisation was formed in Aug 2014; registered as a Society; with funding in part by contributions from the industry and balance by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The IESC works in close coordination with the Confederation of India Industry (CII)
5. Considering that majority of manufacturers had their Plants and Head Offices in the South and West Zones, IESC established its Head Office in Bangalore on 1 st November 2014 and commenced operations immediately thereafter; with initial 3 focus on training and certification of operators and mechanics and then other segments of job roles in the industry.
Role Description: The Supervisor (Plant & Machinery) plans and schedules work related to equipment operations, allocates work to team members and guides till completion in line with safety, productivity and quality norms at the worksite. The Supervisor also maintains equipment operations related documentation
Role Description: Drives and controls a compactor which is a self–propelled machine used to distribute and compress to give a finished surface to cooling Asphalt.
Role Description: A concrete pump operator controls, or operates power-driven,stationary, or portable pumps and manifold systems to transfer concrete or slurries to and from various vessels and pipes to the quired location.
Role Description: A Crawler Crane Operator operates a moving crane to lift,move,position,and reposition loads.He is responsible for operating Telehandler to move, locate, relocate, stack and count merchandise
Role Description: Drives and controls an excavating machine which is a self–propelled machine used to dig and dump above the base level of the machine
Role Description: A Hydra Crane Operator operates a moving crane to lift, move, position, and reposition loads. Responsible for operating Tele handler to move, locate, relocate, stack & count merchandise.
Role Description: A junior backhoe operator assists the operator in driving and controlling the backhoe operations; safely and as per schedule. He assists the operator in smooth functioning of the operations along with performing pre hecks of the machine. He is also responsible for cleaning and basic maintenance of backhoe loader.
Role Description: Assist in driving and controlling an excavating machine which is a self–propelled machine used to dig and dump above the base level of the machine
Role Description: The primary role of a Junior Mechanic (Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation) is to assist in repair and maintenance for electrical / electronic assemblies and sub-assemblies to ensure equipments optimum functioning.
Role Description: Assist Mechanic (engine) in breakdown repair & preventive maintenance in issues related to engines of the vehicles
Role Description: Assist Mechanic (Hydraulic) in breakdown repair & preventive maintenance in issues related hydraulic assemblies and sub-assemblies of infrastructure equipment
Role Description: The Junior crane operator helps the main operator in his work.(The crane lifts, moves, positions, and reposition loads). The junior crane operator helps in maintenance of the crane,clearing the area of operation and communicating with the site supervisor. He also learns how to operate the crane On - The-Job.
Role Description: Mechanic (Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation) supports the equipment operation by conducting inspections and preventive maintenance. His job role involves skilled mechanical and electrical work such as installing, maintaining and repairing electrical and related equipment etc.
Role Description: Supports the equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments; of to the components of Hydraulic system
Role Description: Mechanic (Engine) provides assistance in engine related maintenance and supports the equipment operation by conducting inspections and preventive maintenance
Role Description: A backhoe operator drives and controls the backhoe operations;safely and as per schedule. He operates the various attachments, as applicable and knows heir respective functions He is responsible for the maintenance of the equipment.

Role Description: A Tyre Mounted Crane Operator operates a stationed crane to lift, move, position,and reposition loads. Responsible fr operating Tele handler to move, locate, relocate, stack & count merchandise.
Role Description: A wheel loader operator operates the equipment for efficient transportation of loads to appropriate storage areas or loading trucks, minimizing contamination. He is also responsible for the maintenance of the equipment
