Food Processing Sector has eight subsectors compromising of 1)Dairy Products, 2)Fruits & Vegetables, 3)Oilseeds & Food Grain Milling, 4)Meat & Poultry, 5)Bread & Bakery, 6)Fish & Marine Products, 7)Aerated Beverages, 8)Alcoholic Beverages, and horizontal sectors comprising of 1) Food Products Packaging & Refrigeration 2)Quality Control, 3)Processed Food Entrepreneurship.
Food Industry Capacity and Skill Initiative (FICSI) is a society registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 and is promoted by the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), under the aegis of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
Food Industry Capacity and Skill Initiative (FICSI)is the Sector Skill Council for the Food Processing Sector engaged in identification of skill development needs in Food Processing Sector, development of a sector skill development plan and maintenance of a skill inventory, determination of skills/competency standards and qualifications, standardizing affiliation and accreditation process, participating in affiliation, accreditation, examination and certification, planning and execution Training of Trainers, promotion of academics of excellence and establishment of a specific Labour Market Information System (LMIS).
Role Description: An Assistant Lab Technician –Food and Agricultural Commoditiesis responsible for sampling raw materials, packaging materials, finished products, shelf-life samples for quantitative and qualitative analysis.
Role Description: A Baking Technician / Operative is responsible for baking of products, maintaining their consistency and quailty , while meeting defined SOPs and leveraging his/ her skill to operate ovens in synchronisation with proof box/ rest of the plant/ unit.
Role Description: A Butter and Ghee Processing Operator operates various dairy processing machineries to produce butter and ghee following specifications and standards of the organization.
Role Description: A Cold Storage Technicianis responsible for handling installation of refrigeration system and components, refrigerant charging andstorage of food in the cold storage room by maintaining storage parameters.
Role Description: A Craft Baker produces baked products ( breads, puffs, cookies, cakes/ pastries, desserts, specialty baked products, etc.) in artisan bakeries and patisseries.
Role Description: A Dairy Processing Equipment Operatoris responsible for operating various types of dairy processing machineries for producing dairy products.
Role Description: A Fish and Sea Food Processing Technician is responsible for processing fish and sea food to achieve quality and quantity of products along with maintaining food safety and hygiene in work environment.
Role Description: A Fruit Pulp Processing Technician is responsible for pulping/producing fruit pulp.
Role Description: A Fruit Ripening Technician is responsible for ripening of all types of fruit in the fruit ripening chamber.
Role Description: A Fruits and Vegetables Canning Technician is responsible for canning fruits and vegetables.
Role Description: A Fruits and Vegetables Drying/Dehydration Technician is responsible for drying/dehydration of fruits and vegetables.
Role Description: A Fruits and Vegetables Selection In chargeis responsible for sorting and grading produce such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, etc. based on colour, size, appearance, feel and smell.
Role Description: A Grain Mill Operator is responsible for operating milling machineries in order to produce milled grains and flour(s).
Role Description: An Ice Cream Processing Technician is responsible for operating various ice-cream processing machineries to produce ice cream following specifications and standards of the organisation.
Role Description: A Jam, Jelly and Ketchup Processing Technician is responsible for processing fruits and vegetables to make jam, jelly and ketchup.
Role Description: A Mixing Technician prepares different types of dough used in making baked products .
Role Description: A Modified AtmosphereStorage Technician is responsible for storing produce in modified atmosphere storage facility.
Role Description: A Pickle Making Technician is responsible for preparing different types of pickles from various fruits and vegetables. This role is similar for processing all types of pickles in manual and machine operated units.
Role Description: A Plan t Biscuit Production Specialist produces biscuits in industrial units as per defined SOPs in synchronisation with rest of the plant/ unit.
Role Description: A Pulse Processing Technician is responsible for milling various types of pulses (red gram, black gram, bengal gram, green gram, green peas, etc.) through processes such as cleaning, de-stoning, conditioning, de-husking, splitting, sorting, polishing and grinding.
Role Description: A Purchase Assistant –Food and Agricultural Commodities handles purchase of food and agricultural commodities as per organization specifications and standards.
Role Description: A Squash and Juice Processing Technician is responsible for preparation of squash and juice from fruits.
