If you qualify for online renewal of your registration you MUST renew online at www.njmvc.gov. Same-Day Online Renewal. You can renew your registration online.

You can renew your registration online. Once you have completed the process, your registration renewal is effective immediately. Check the List of eligible codes for online renewal

Renewing in-person

If you are ineligible to renew online, you must make an appointment to renew your registration.

What to bring to the agency

• Registration Renewal Notice or Vehicle Identification Number
• Your insurance card or company name and policy number
• License plate number
• Proof of ID (Driver license or other primary ID document. See 6 Points of ID for more information). Read more about the 6 Points of ID.
• Power of Attorney if renewing a registration for someone else
• The amount due indicated in your renewal notice. You can pay by cash, money order, checks (payable to NJMVC), credit or debit card
• Completed Application for Vehicle Registration (Form BA-49)
• Schedule an Appointment

What you need to have before starting

• Completed Registration Renewal Notice. Both front and back must be filled out.
• Return envelope provided along with the notice.
• Check or money order (payable to NJMVC) for the amount due as indicated in your renewal notice.

• Your registration renewal form
• Valid insurance company id and policy number
• Valid credit card

Your PIN (Plate Identification Number) is located on the bottom right corner of your registration renewal form. The PIN is required for security.
