{"id":96841,"date":"2025-10-11T15:29:37","date_gmt":"2025-10-11T09:59:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.seminarsonly.com\/news\/?p=96841"},"modified":"2025-10-11T15:42:27","modified_gmt":"2025-10-11T10:12:27","slug":"e-verify-reopens-key-points-for-employers-and-employees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/seminarsonly.com\/news\/e-verify-reopens-key-points-for-employers-and-employees\/","title":{"rendered":"E-Verify Reopens | Key Points for Employers and Employees"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><em>According to official announcements and reports, the E-Verify system is back online and operational as of <b>October 9, 2025<\/b>, after being suspended due to a federal government shutdown that began on October 1, 2025.<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Here are the key points for employers and employees:<\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><b>For Employers:<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><b>Deadline to Create Cases:<\/b> <\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>You must create an E-Verify case by <b>Tuesday, October 14, 2025<\/b>, for all employees hired while the system was down (from October 1 to October 7, 2025).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><b>Reason for Delay:<\/b> <\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>When creating these cases, use the employee&#8217;s original hire date from their Form I-9. The system will prompt you to provide a reason for the delay; select &#8220;Other&#8221; from the dropdown menu and specify &#8220;E-Verify not available.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><b>Form I-9 Obligations:<\/b> <\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>The government shutdown did not change the requirement to complete Form I-9 within three business days of an employee&#8217;s start date.
