Here\u2019s how to set up Okta Verify on a new phone<\/strong>, depending on whether you still have your old device and available recovery options:<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n

\ud83d\udcf1 If You Still Have Access to Your Old Device<\/span><\/h2>\n

You can either remove the enrollment there<\/strong> or sync it via Bluetooth<\/strong> (Android\/iOS):<\/span><\/p>\n

Option A: Remove and Re\u2011enroll<\/span><\/h3>\n

    On your old phone: open Okta Verify<\/strong> \u2192 select your account \u2192 tap Delete Account<\/strong>, which removes it from the Okta system<\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    On a computer: log into your Okta End\u2011User Dashboard<\/strong>. Go to account Settings<\/strong>, under “Security Methods” or “Extra Verification”, remove the old Okta Verify entry, then click Set up<\/strong> to generate a new QR code<\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    On your new phone, download Okta Verify<\/strong>, open it \u2192 tap Add Account \u2192 Organization \u2192 Ready to scan<\/strong>. Scan the QR code from the dashboard, enable notifications and biometrics if prompted, and tap Done<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Option B: Sync via Bluetooth (supported on Android and iOS)<\/span><\/h3>\n

    Available only if both your devices have Bluetooth enabled, biometrics on the new device, and FastPass enabled<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n

      On your old device: open Okta Verify \u2192 select your account \u2192 tap Add account to another device<\/strong> \u2192 authenticate with biometrics and allow Bluetooth \u2192 a QR code and setup code appear<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      On the new device: install the app, open it \u2192 tap Add account from another device<\/strong> \u2192 follow prompts, scan the QR (or enter code manually), confirm the 6\u2011digit PIN to pair devices, then complete setup and tap Done<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      \ud83d\udd12 If You Don\u2019t<\/em> Have the Old Device (Broken, Lost, or Wiped)<\/span><\/h2>\n

        Attempt to sign in using another available MFA method, such as SMS, email, or a security key. On the Okta sign-in page, choose \u201cVerify with something else\u201d or \u201cUse another method\u201d<\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        Once signed in, go to Settings \u2192 Extra Verification<\/strong> or Security Methods<\/strong> and remove the existing Okta Verify registration. Then click Set up<\/strong> to get a fresh QR code for your new device<\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        Follow the same setup process on your new phone: download Okta Verify, tap Add \u2192 Organization \u2192 Ready to scan<\/strong>, scan the QR, enable notifications\/biometrics as prompted, and tap Done<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        If you have no alternate method configured, or you can’t access the Dashbord, you’ll need to contact your organization’s IT or help desk<\/strong> to reset your Okta Verify before setting it up on the new phone<\/span>.<\/p>\n

          You cannot “transfer” your Okta Verify account<\/strong> from one device to another without first removing the old enrollment or using Bluetooth sync. It\u2019s tied to the original device and doesn\u2019t just migrate over automatically<\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          Okta Verify does not copy over TOTP codes<\/strong> for non\u2011Okta services like GitHub or Google\u2014you\u2019ll need to manually re\u2011configure those on your new device from those services directly<\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
