A new texting scam is targeting\u00a0FasTrak\u00a0users.\u00a0 Those text messages that claim you have unpaid tolls and need to pay immediately. Be careful! There’s a big scam going around that looks like a FasTrak text.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n

Here’s the deal:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n
    \n
  • FasTrak (the real toll system in California) does NOT send text messages to people who don’t already have an account.<\/strong> So, if you get a text out of the blue saying you owe money, it’s very likely a scam.<\/li>\n
  • These fake texts often have misspellings or bad grammar.<\/strong> They might even get the name wrong (like “FastTrack”).<\/li>\n
  • They try to scare you<\/strong> by saying you’ll get a fine or lose your license if you don’t pay right away.<\/li>\n
  • They include a link to a fake website.<\/strong> If you click on it, you could give scammers your personal information or even your bank account details.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    What to do if you get a suspicious text:<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n
      \n
    • Don’t click on any links!<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Don’t reply to the text.<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Report it as spam or junk.<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Block the number.<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • If you have a FasTrak account, check it online to see if you actually have any unpaid tolls.<\/strong> Go to the official FasTrak website (not the link in the text!) to do this.<\/li>\n
