{"id":85108,"date":"2024-12-14T22:09:48","date_gmt":"2024-12-14T16:39:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.seminarsonly.com\/news\/?p=85108"},"modified":"2024-12-14T22:09:48","modified_gmt":"2024-12-14T16:39:48","slug":"fortnite-class-action-refund-how-much-will-the-refunds-be","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/seminarsonly.com\/news\/fortnite-class-action-refund-how-much-will-the-refunds-be\/","title":{"rendered":"Fortnite Class Action Refund | How much will the refunds be?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Fortnite Class Action Refund | How much will the refunds be?<\/span><\/h2>\n<h3 data-sourcepos=\"1:1-1:338\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><em>The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is currently sending out refunds to consumers who were tricked by Epic Games, the maker of Fortnite, into making unwanted in-app purchases. <\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"1:1-1:338\">This is part of a settlement reached in December 2022, where Epic Games was ordered to pay $245 million to resolve allegations of using deceptive design practices.<\/p>\n<h2 data-sourcepos=\"3:1-3:33\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Who is eligible for a refund?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"5:1-5:41\">You may be eligible if you or your child:<\/p>\n<ul data-sourcepos=\"7:1-10:0\">\n<li data-sourcepos=\"7:1-7:89\">Were charged for in-game items you didn&#8217;t want between January 2017 and September 2022.<\/li>\n<li data-sourcepos=\"8:1-8:87\">Made unauthorized charges on your credit card between January 2017 and November 2018.<\/li>\n<li data-sourcepos=\"9:1-10:0\">Had your account locked between January 2017 and September 2022 after disputing charges with your credit card company.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-sourcepos=\"11:1-11:34\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>How do you apply for a refund?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"13:1-13:146\">If you believe you&#8217;re eligible, you can still submit a claim online at www.ftc.gov\/fortnite. The deadline to file a claim is <strong>January 10, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-sourcepos=\"15:1-15:33\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>How much will the refunds be?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"17:1-17:183\">The amount of individual refunds will vary depending on several factors, including the number of people who submit claims. The average refund for the first round of payments was $114.<\/p>\n<h2 data-sourcepos=\"19:1-19:38\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>When will the refunds be paid out?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"21:1-21:178\">The FTC has already started sending out refunds. The first round of payments, totaling over $72 million, was sent out in December 2024.
