Here\u2019s what you need to know:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Application Period<\/strong>: Starting from\u00a0<strong>June 15, 2024<\/strong>, families can apply for Summer EBT benefits via an online application at\u00a0<a class=\"ac-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/eohhs.ehs.state.ma.us\/DTA\/PolicyOnline\/BEACON5\/!SSL!\/WebHelp\/Summer_EBT\/Summer_EBT_Application.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DTAConnect.com<\/a>.\u00a0The online application will remain open until\u00a0<strong>September 7, 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Benefit Distribution<\/strong>: Summer EBT benefits will be loaded onto EBT cards for most students on\u00a0<strong>July 25, 2024<\/strong>.\u00a0If you receive SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), the Summer EBT benefits will be added to your DTA EBT card.<\/p>\n<p>Feel free to apply and take advantage of this program to support your family\u2019s nutritional needs during the summer!<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Selecting a PIN and Activating a Summer EBT Food Benefits Card<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To access your Summer EBT food benefits using a Summer EBT food benefits card, you must have a Personal Identification Number (PIN). All Summer EBT cards will have an ID number with the letter &#8220;I&#8221; in the <strong>first or second position<\/strong>. All EBT cards will have a\u00a0<strong>01\/01\/1900<\/strong>\u00a0DOB.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Call the EBT customer service helpline at 1-888-328-6399 to select a Personal Identification Number (PIN) over the phone<\/strong>\u00a0and follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Choose a language.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the 19-digit number on the front of the P-EBT or Summer EBT food benefits card.<\/li>\n<li>Press 1 to create your PIN.<\/li>\n<li>You will be asked for the last 4 digits of the cardholder&#8217;s Social Security Number (SSN). The cardholder is the child whose name is printed on the front of the P-EBT or Summer EBT food benefits card.\u00a0<strong>Do NOT enter the child&#8217;s SSN<\/strong>. Instead, enter the 4-digit month and day (MM\/DD) of the\u00a0<strong>child&#8217;s<\/strong>\u00a0actual\u00a0<strong>BIRTHDAY<\/strong>\u00a0(<strong>NOT<\/strong>\u00a0the fake birthday printed on the front of the card).<br \/>\nFor example, if the child&#8217;s birthday is July 4, enter\u00a0<strong>0704<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Enter your zip code.<\/li>\n<li>Enter your new 4-digit PIN. You cannot choose a PIN that contains repeated or consecutive numbers, such as \u201c2222\u201d or \u201c1234\u201d. Choose a PIN that is difficult to guess.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<aside class=\"call-out\">\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fns.usda.gov\/snap\/retailer-locator\">Where can I use my Summer EBT benefits?<\/a><\/h3>\n<\/aside>\n<p>You can now use your Summer EBT food benefits card at any SNAP-authorized grocery store, farmers market, or other approved retailer.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Eligibility<\/span><\/h2>\n<h3>Automatically Eligible<\/h3>\n<p>To receive Summer EBT food benefits automatically:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A child must receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and\/or Temporary Assistance (cash) benefits, or be directly certified for free meals through Medicaid,\u00a0<strong>OR<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>A child must be determined eligible for free\/reduced price school meals through the\u00a0<strong>National School Lunch Program<\/strong>\u00a0by their school.*<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These children will receive benefits automatically and\u00a0<strong>DO NOT<\/strong>\u00a0need to apply. Most eligible children will receive their benefits this way.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Must Apply<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Some students who are not automatically eligible may be able to receive Summer EBT food benefits by completing an application. To be eligible through an application:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A student must attend a school that participates in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP),\u00a0<strong>AND<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The household&#8217;s income must be at or below the limits for eligibility for free\/reduced price school meals (185% federal poverty level). Eligible children will receive benefits at different times, depending on whether they attend public or private school, and whether they receive benefits automatically or are determined eligible through a Summer EBT application.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">How do I check my Summer EBT balance?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To check your Summer EBT balance, you can do the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Online<\/strong>: Visit the <strong>DTAConnect<\/strong> website and log in using your EBT card number and PIN. Once logged in, you\u2019ll find your current balance.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Phone<\/strong>: Call the EBT Customer Service line at\u00a0<strong>1-800-997-2555<\/strong>. Follow the prompts to check your balance.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Receipts<\/strong>: Keep your EBT transaction receipts after each purchase. They show your remaining balance.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Remember to protect your EBT card and PIN to keep your benefits secure!<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">What can I buy with the EBT card?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>With your EBT card, you can purchase\u00a0<strong>eligible food items<\/strong>\u00a0for your family.
