Activate Facetime to Make and Receive Calls<\/span><\/h1>\n

You can activate FaceTime calls over a cellular data connection, which may incur additional charges. To turn this feature off, go to Settings > Cellular, then turn off FaceTime.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

With an internet connection and an Apple ID, you can make and receive calls in the FaceTime app.<\/span><\/p>\n

Note:\u00a0<\/em>You must\u00a0set up FaceTime\u00a0before you can make and receive calls.<\/p>\n

Make a FaceTime call<\/span><\/h2>\n
\n

1. Open the FaceTime app \u00a0on your iPhone, then tap New FaceTime near the top of the screen<\/p>\n

2. Type the name or number you want to call in the entry field at the top, then tap \u00a0to make a video call or \u00a0to make an audio call (not available in all countries or regions)<\/p>\n

Alternatively, you can tap \u00a0to open Contacts and add people from there; or tap a suggested contact in your call history to quickly make a call.<\/p>\n

You can also use Siri. Say something like: \u201cMake a FaceTime call\u201d or \u201cCall Eliza\u2019s mobile.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tip:\u00a0<\/strong>To see more during a FaceTime video call, rotate iPhone to use landscape orientation<\/p>\n

Record a video message<\/span><\/h2>\n

If someone doesn\u2019t answer your FaceTime video call, you can record a video message to convey exactly what you want to say.<\/p>\n

1. Tap Record Video, wait for the countdown (from 5 to 1), then record your message.<\/p>\n

2. Tap \"the\u00a0to send your recorded message, or tap Retake to rerecord the message. You can also tap Save to save it to Photos.<\/p>\n

After you send your video message, the recipient is notified.<\/p>\n

Note:\u00a0<\/em>You can receive video messages only from saved contacts, people you\u2019ve called, and people suggested by Siri.<\/p>\n

Leave a voicemail<\/span><\/h2>\n

If someone doesn\u2019t answer your FaceTime audio call, and the person you\u2019re calling has Live Voicemail turned on in Settings\u00a0\"\"\u00a0> Phone, you\u2019re prompted to leave a voicemail.<\/p>\n

If you leave a voicemail, your message is transcribed on their screen as you speak, letting them know what you\u2019re calling about and giving them a chance to pick up your call.<\/p>\n

Note:\u00a0<\/em>Live Voicemail is available only in English in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) and Canada.<\/p>\n
