Go slow when you spot false urgency.<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Phishing attempts often arrive as an urgent request.<\/p>\n<p>Be suspicious of messages that announce a \u201cproblem\u201d with your account or ask you to immediately log in to unlock your account, verify a transaction, make an online payment, or reverse a payment.<\/p>\n<p>When asked to \u201cact immediately,\u201d do the opposite. Go slow and resist the urge to respond right away.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Step 3: Verify. Confirm the sender but don\u2019t rely on caller ID.\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Phishing attempts can be sophisticated and may even spoof (or imitate) caller ID making the call look legitimate.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t assume a communication can be trusted simply because it appears or sounds legitimate.<\/p>\n<p>Contact the organization directly by going to their website.<\/p>\n<p>To verify communications that appear to be from Wells Fargo, sign on using the\u00a0Wells Fargo Mobile<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0app or type \u201cwellsfargo.com\u201d into a new browser tab to access\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wellsfargo.com\/mobile-online-banking\/\">Wells Fargo Online<\/a><sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0directly.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"emphasis2\" style=\"color: #800000;\">Step 4: Stop. When in doubt, don\u2019t respond.<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>When you receive an urgent request that doesn\u2019t seem right, hang up or close the message. You aren\u2019t being rude \u2014 you are being wise.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Actions to avoid:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do not sign on to your Wells Fargo account from a link embedded in a suspicious message<\/li>\n<li>Do not share personal account information such as your PIN, password, or one-time access codes<\/li>\n<li>Do not click any links or open attachments, which can install malware on your device<\/li>\n<li>Do not call phone numbers included in the communication<\/li>\n<li>Do not allow remote access to your computer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Step 5: Let us help.
