This triggers a built-in security feature that locks your device for increasing time periods\u2014ultimately requiring a reset if unsuccessful attempts continue.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"656\" data-end=\"677\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">How to Resolve It<\/span><\/h2>\n<h3 data-start=\"679\" data-end=\"741\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Option 1: <strong data-start=\"693\" data-end=\"739\">Reset Directly on Device (iOS 17 or later)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"742\" data-end=\"970\">If your device is running iOS 17 or later and you&#8217;re connected to Wi\u2011Fi or mobile data <em data-start=\"829\" data-end=\"834\">and<\/em> have Find My enabled, you&#8217;ll see a <strong data-start=\"870\" data-end=\"890\">Forgot Passcode?<\/strong> or <strong data-start=\"894\" data-end=\"914\">Security Lockout<\/strong> option on the lock screen. Clicking this allows you to:<\/p>\n<ol data-start=\"971\" data-end=\"1139\">\n<li data-start=\"971\" data-end=\"1024\">\n<p data-start=\"974\" data-end=\"1024\">Reset the device using your Apple ID and password.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1025\" data-end=\"1056\">\n<p data-start=\"1028\" data-end=\"1056\">Erase all data and settings.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1057\" data-end=\"1139\">\n<p data-start=\"1060\" data-end=\"1139\">Set it up again and create a new passcode.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p data-start=\"1141\" data-end=\"1178\">This method works without a computer.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1180\" data-end=\"1243\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Option 2: <strong data-start=\"1194\" data-end=\"1241\">Use a Computer (All Supported iOS Versions)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1244\" data-end=\"1295\">If you&#8217;re not able to reset directly on the device:<\/p>\n<ol data-start=\"1296\" data-end=\"1703\">\n<li data-start=\"1296\" data-end=\"1419\">\n<p data-start=\"1299\" data-end=\"1419\">Connect the device to a Mac or PC using Finder (macOS Catalina or later) or iTunes (on Windows or older macOS versions).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1420\" data-end=\"1483\">\n<p data-start=\"1423\" data-end=\"1483\">Put the device into <strong data-start=\"1443\" data-end=\"1460\">Recovery Mode<\/strong> (steps vary by model).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1484\" data-end=\"1590\">\n<p data-start=\"1487\" data-end=\"1590\">Choose the <strong data-start=\"1498\" data-end=\"1509\">Restore<\/strong> option when prompted\u2014this will erase the device and update it to the latest iOS.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1591\" data-end=\"1703\">\n<p data-start=\"1594\" data-end=\"1703\">After restoring, you can set up the device from scratch or use a backup.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"gb-header\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Before you reset your device<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul class=\"list gb-list\">\n<li class=\"gb-list_item\">\n<p class=\"gb-paragraph\">You need to have a device that uses visionOS, iOS 15.2 or iPadOS 15.2 or later.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"gb-list_item\">\n<p class=\"gb-paragraph\">Your device needs to be connected to a mobile or Wi-Fi network.*<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"gb-list_item\">\n<p class=\"gb-paragraph\">You&#8217;ll need the Apple ID and password that you used to set up your device.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"gb-paragraph\">On your iPhone or iPad, the Forgotten Passcode? option appears when you have a device that uses iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 or later, and you are connected to a mobile or Wi-Fi network. An Erase [Device] option appears if you have a device that uses iOS 15.2, iPadOS 15.2, iOS 16 or iPadOS 16, and you are connected to a mobile or Wi-Fi network.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"gb-header\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">How to reset your device in iOS 17<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"gb-paragraph\">If you\u2019re using an eSIM on iOS 16 or earlier, contact your network provider before following these steps and ask for a QR code to\u00a0set up your eSIM\u00a0again.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gb-paragraph\">1. From your device\u2019s Lock Screen, try to enter your passcode until the \u201c[Device] Unavailable\u201d screen appears and your device asks you to try again later.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gb-paragraph\">2. When you\u2019re able to, tap the Forgot Passcode? option in the bottom corner of the screen.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"gb-image aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cdsassets.apple.com\/live\/7WUAS350\/images\/ios\/ios-17-iphone-14-pro-iphone-unavailable.png\" alt=\"The iPhone Unavailable screen in iOS 17 or later includes a Forgot Passcode? option.\" width=\"182\" height=\"369\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"gb-paragraph\">3. On the Security Lockout screen, tap Start [Device] Reset to confirm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gb-paragraph\">4. Enter your Apple ID password to sign out of your Apple ID on your device<\/p>\n<p class=\"gb-paragraph\">5. Tap Erase [Device] to permanently delete all of your data and settings. If you use an eSIM with iOS 17 or later, you can also choose to keep your eSIM and erase your data, or to delete your eSIM and erase your data<\/p>\n<p class=\"gb-paragraph\">6. When your device restarts, follow the onscreen instructions to set up your device again,\u00a0restore your data and settings from a backup, and set a new passcode.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gb-paragraph\">If you can\u2019t follow these steps, you can\u00a0use a computer to reset your device.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gb-paragraph\">You can only reach the \u201cSecurity Lockout\u201d screen if you have an active mobile or Wi-Fi connection and\u00a0enabled Find My on your device\u00a0previously. After you try to enter your password ten times, your device will either erase itself or show Security Lockout and the Forgot Passcode? option without a timer, depending on how you set up your device previously.<\/p>\n<h3>Also Read : <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seminarsonly.com\/news\/support-apple-com-iphone-passcode-how-do-i-recover-my-apple-id-passcode\/\">How do I recover my Apple ID passcode<\/a><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"gb-header\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">If you recently changed passcodes, use your old passcode to temporarily sign in<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"gb-paragraph\">When you change your passcode in iOS 17 and later,\u00a0Passcode Reset will give you 72 hours when your old iPhone passcode can be used to sign in to your phone. When you sign in to your iPhone this way, you must change your passcode again immediately.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gb-paragraph\"><em><strong>To use Passcode Reset:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ol class=\"list gb-list\">\n<li class=\"gb-list_item\">\n<p class=\"gb-paragraph\">From your device\u2019s Lock Screen, try to enter your passcode until the \u201c[Device] Unavailable\u201d screen appears and your device asks you to try again later.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"gb-list_item\">\n<p class=\"gb-paragraph\">When you\u2019re able to, tap the Forgot Passcode? option in the bottom corner of the screen.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"gb-list_item\">\n<p class=\"gb-paragraph\">Tap Try Passcode Reset.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"gb-list_item\">\n<p class=\"gb-paragraph\">Enter your old passcode, then follow the onscreen instructions to set a new passcode.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"note gb-note\">\n<p class=\"gb-paragraph\">Passcode Reset is not available on Apple Vision Pro.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">How do I access my Apple passcode?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu &gt; System Settings, then click \u201cSign in with your Apple ID\u201d at the top of the sidebar.<\/p>\n<p>2.
