In June 2023, the Metro Board authorized making the Pay-As-You-Go program permanent at metroexpresslanes.net. Under this program, the cost of using the ExpressLanes without a valid FasTrak account\/transponder has been reduced to $8 plus the posted toll rate. <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Prior to this policy, driving in the Metro ExpressLanes without a valid FasTrak account\/transponder would have cost a minimum of $25 plus the posted toll rate.<\/p>\n

You have several options for resolving a toll evasion violation issued by Metro ExpressLanes:<\/p>\n

How it Works<\/strong><\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

If a vehicle enters the Metro ExpressLanes on the I-10 and I-110 without a valid FasTrak account\/transponder, a notice of toll evasion violation is mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle with payment instructions for the toll amount plus an $8 processing fee which must be paid within 30 days to avoid additional penalties.<\/p>\n

What will be mailed to the registered vehicle owner?<\/strong><\/b><\/h3>\n

Under this policy, if a vehicle travels in the ExpressLanes without a valid FasTrak account\/transponder, a \u201cNotice of Toll Evasion\u201d will be mailed to the registered vehicle owner with details about the vehicle and the trip, along with a summary of the amount due and instructions for payment.<\/p>\n

How much will I owe?<\/strong><\/b><\/h3>\n

Without a FasTrak account\/transponder, the amount due on the first mailed notice will be the posted toll amount at the time of the trip, plus an $8 processing fee. The balance must be paid within 30 days.<\/p>\n

What happens if I don\u2019t pay within 30 days?<\/strong><\/b><\/h3>\n

If the balance due on the first mailed notice is not paid in 30 days, the fees will increase and may eventually result in DMV registration hold and\/or collections action.<\/p>\n

With this new policy in place, what is the benefit of having a FasTrak account and transponder?\u00a0<\/strong><\/b><\/h3>\n
