To select which of your phone numbers and email addresses you want to use with iMessage, go to Settings &gt; Messages &gt; Send &amp; Receive, then choose from the available options below \u201cYou can receive iMessages to and reply from.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>iMessage is a secure messaging service that you can use to send and receive messages in the Messages app\u00a0on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch.<\/p>\n<p>If someone sends a message to your email address or phone number using iMessage, you receive the message\u00a0on all your Apple devices\u00a0that are set up to receive messages sent to that email address or phone number. When you view an iMessage conversation, you see all messages sent from any device, so you can keep in touch with others wherever you are.<\/p>\n<p>You need an\u00a0Apple ID\u00a0to use iMessage. If you\u2019ve made purchases from the iTunes Store or App Store or you\u2019ve signed in to iCloud, you have an Apple ID.<\/p>\n<p>In the Messages app <span class=\"NoBreak\">,\u00a0<\/span>you can send text messages in two different ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Over Wi-Fi or cellular service, using\u00a0iMessage\u00a0with others who also use iMessage on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Your iMessage texts appear in blue bubbles.<\/li>\n<li>With SMS\/MMS messages, which appear in green bubbles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/help.apple.com\/assets\/64F2669B7BEF8AE318002477\/64F266A17BEF8AE3180024A8\/en_US\/0e9472f7ca0975fea005440336eb4c19.png\" alt=\"A Messages conversation showing iMessage features.\" width=\"245\" height=\"499\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"Name\" aria-controls=\"aria-iphe50bc4b2a\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Turn on iMessage<\/span><\/h2>\n<div id=\"aria-iphe50bc4b2a\" class=\"TaskBody\" role=\"region\" aria-hidden=\"false\">\n<ol>\n<li>Go to Settings\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/help.apple.com\/assets\/64F2669B7BEF8AE318002477\/64F266A17BEF8AE3180024A8\/en_US\/88b2400e45bcf521514b7252cbb2d959.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"30\" height=\"30\" \/>\u00a0&gt; Messages, then turn on iMessage.<\/li>\n<li>To select which of your phone numbers and email addresses you want to use with iMessage, go to Settings\u00a0&gt; Messages\u00a0&gt; Send &amp; Receive, then choose from the available options below \u201cYou can receive iMessages to and reply from.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 class=\"Name\" aria-controls=\"aria-iph6fc6b7653\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Access your messages on all your Apple devices<\/span><\/h2>\n<div id=\"aria-iph6fc6b7653\" class=\"TaskBody\" role=\"region\" aria-hidden=\"false\">\n<p>When you turn on Messages in iCloud, every message you send and receive on your iPhone is saved in iCloud. And, when you sign in with the same Apple\u00a0ID on a new device that also has Messages in iCloud turned on, all your conversations show up there automatically.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to Settings\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/help.apple.com\/assets\/64F2669B7BEF8AE318002477\/64F266A17BEF8AE3180024A8\/en_US\/88b2400e45bcf521514b7252cbb2d959.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"30\" height=\"30\" \/>\u00a0&gt; [<em>your\u00a0name<\/em>]\u00a0&gt; iCloud, then tap Show All.<\/li>\n<li>Turn on Messages (if it\u2019s not already turned on).<\/li>\n<li>To confirm which other devices will receive any SMS\/MMS text messages you get on your iPhone, go to Settings\u00a0&gt; Messages\u00a0&gt; Text Message Forwarding.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>After you turn on Messages in iCloud, any messages or attachments you delete from iPhone are also deleted from your other Apple devices (iOS 11.4, iPadOS 13, macOS 10.13.5, or later) where Messages in iCloud is turned on.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"Name\" aria-controls=\"aria-iphbb7e7c941\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Choose other devices for SMS\/MMS messaging<\/span><\/h2>\n<div id=\"aria-iphbb7e7c941\" class=\"TaskBody\" role=\"region\" aria-hidden=\"false\">\n<p>If you haven\u2019t\u00a0turned on Messages in iCloud, you can set up your iPhone so that when you send or receive an SMS message, it appears on your other Apple devices.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to Settings\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/help.apple.com\/assets\/64F2669B7BEF8AE318002477\/64F266A17BEF8AE3180024A8\/en_US\/88b2400e45bcf521514b7252cbb2d959.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"30\" height=\"30\" \/>\u00a0&gt; Messages.<\/li>\n<li>Tap Text Message Forwarding, then turn on any devices you want to include.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"Alert\">\n<p class=\"Note\"><em>Note:\u00a0<\/em>If you\u2019re not using\u00a0two-factor authentication, you need to enter a six-digit activation code that appears on the other device.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"Name\" aria-controls=\"aria-iph390af3561\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Share your name and photo<\/span><\/h2>\n<div id=\"aria-iph390af3561\" class=\"TaskBody\" role=\"region\" aria-hidden=\"false\">\n<p>In Messages, you can share your name and photo with others. You decide whether to share it whenever you send or receive a message from someone new.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the Messages app\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/help.apple.com\/assets\/64F2669B7BEF8AE318002477\/64F266A17BEF8AE3180024A8\/en_US\/14e93dcde4ada323a55aa1c05792208f.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"30\" height=\"30\" \/>\u00a0on your iPhone.<\/li>\n<li>In the Messages conversation list, do one of the following:\n<ul>\n<li>Tap Edit in the top-left corner.<\/li>\n<li>Tap\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/help.apple.com\/assets\/64F2669B7BEF8AE318002477\/64F266A17BEF8AE3180024A8\/en_US\/dae20500a8f6e9b647f835174db932eb.png\" alt=\"the More button\" width=\"30\" height=\"30\" \/>\u00a0in the top-right corner.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Tap Set Up Name &amp; Photo, turn on Name &amp; Photo Sharing, then change any of the following:\n<ul>\n<li><em>Your picture:<\/em>\u00a0Tap Edit below the circle, then choose an option.
