Under the FCRA, companies must conduct \u2013 free of charge \u2013 a reasonable investigation of your dispute. The company that has provided the incorrect information must correct the error, and notify all of the consumer reporting companies to whom it provided the inaccurate information.<\/p>\n<div class=\"block block__flush-top block__sub\">\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">How do I dispute an error on my credit report?<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"block block__flush-top\">\n<div class=\"lead-paragraph\">\n<p data-block-key=\"vdmvr\">You have the right to dispute errors on your credit report. Fixing an error generally means contacting both the credit reporting company and the company that provided the information.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"b2nz1\">If you identify an error on your credit report, you should start by disputing that information with the\u00a0credit reporting company (Experian, Equifax, and\/or Transunion).
