If you have already traveled over a Tolls by Mail facility, you can use the\u00a0Pay Toll Now<\/a> link at www.tollsbymailny.com to pay your toll using license plate information and date of travel. However, you are required to update your address with the DMV.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

There are two main reasons why an E-ZPass customer receives a Tolls by Mail Toll Bill instead of the toll transaction posting to an E-ZPass account.<\/p>\n

How does “Tolls by Mail” work?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Toll Bills will be sent to the registered owner of the vehicle, using the address provided by the relevant state motor vehicle office, an updated address provided by the United States Postal Service, or a customer provided address. Toll Bills will be sent periodically, depending upon your travel frequency and the amount of your accumulated tolls.<\/p>\n

I rented a vehicle and drove over a Tolls by Mail facility. How can I pay my toll?<\/span><\/h2>\n

If your travel occurred less than 48 hours ago, you may attempt to pay this transaction by visiting the\u00a0Pay Toll Now\u00a0link. Some rental car\/leasing companies have E-ZPass accounts so some transactions occurring more than 48 hours ago may have already been charged to the rental car company. In this case, you will be subject to the terms of your rental agreement.<\/p>\n

I have an E-ZPass account. Why did I get a Toll Bill?<\/span><\/h2>\n

There are two main reasons why an E-ZPass customer receives a Tolls by Mail Toll Bill instead of the toll transaction posting to an E-ZPass account.<\/p>\n

1. A valid E-ZPass Tag was not detected in the vehicle. This can occur when the Tag is placed on the vehicle dashboard, is held by the customer, or the customer forgets the Tag.<\/div>\n

2. The license plate number that received the Toll<\/a> Bill was not listed on the E-ZPass account at the time of the toll transaction. In most cases had the license plate number been listed on the E-ZPass account, the toll would have been posted to the E-ZPass account. It is important that all vehicles using an E-ZPass Tag are listed on an E-ZPass account.<\/p>\n

E-ZPass Customers Not Serviced by E-ZPass New York:<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Unfortunately you cannot pay this Toll Bill using your E-ZPass account. You may pay this Toll Bill online at this website and click on Pay Toll Bill above, or mail in your payment using the coupon on the Toll Bill. To avoid future Toll Bills, please add your license plate number(s) and state to your E-ZPass account.<\/p>\n

What can I do if it is not my vehicle or I disagree with the Toll Bill?You can dispute the Toll Bill for the following reasons:<\/p>\n

  1. You sold your vehicle, you will need to submit a copy of the proof of sale along with the coupon from the Toll Bill, such as a copy of the sales agreement<\/li>\n
  2. Your vehicle was stolen, you will need to submit a copy of the police report along with the coupon from the Toll Bill<\/li>\n
  3. You surrendered your license plate, you will need to submit a copy of the plate surrender receipt along with the coupon from the Toll Bill<\/li>\n
  4. Other, you need submit additional information that supports your reason for disputing the Toll Bill along with the coupon from the Toll Bill.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
