Instructions<\/span><\/h2>\n

The A-Number begins with the letter “A” and is followed by an 8 or 9 digit number. This number is printed in all DHS and EOIR correspondence. If your A-Number has 9 digits, please enter those numbers. If your A-Number has 8 digits, please enter a zero followed by the eight digits. Do not enter the letter “A”.<\/p>\n

\"Automated<\/p>\n

EOIR’S AUTOMATED CASE INFORMATION SYSTEM\u00a0AND HOTLINE<\/span><\/h2>\n

EOIR maintains an\u00a0Automated Case Information System<\/a>\u00a0that allows you to check your case status online. Please call the\u00a0immigration court<\/a>\u00a0handling your case if you need clarification regarding your hearing date and time.\u00a0Following the issuance of a new hearing notice, such information will be updated. As always, court documents such as notices are your official source of information.<\/p>\n

PUBLIC HEALTH INFORMATION<\/span><\/h2>\n

In August 2022, EOIR updated its public health guidance to implement the latest guidance from the\u00a0Safer Federal Workforce Task Force. If the COVID-19 Community Level is \u201cHIGH,\u201d\u00a0as determined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention\u00a0(CDC), all individuals must wear a mask while in EOIR space (e.g., courtrooms, lobbies, hallways, waiting areas). All individuals entering EOIR spaces must continue to follow relevant CDC procedures regarding quarantine.<\/p>\n

Individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 may enter EOIR spaces after their symptoms begin to improve and they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medicine. Those individuals must wear a high-quality mask until 10 days have passed since their symptoms began (or, if asymptomatic, the date of their positive test).<\/p>\n

For all individuals required to wear a mask in EOIR space, the mask must be a NIOSH-approved respirator, well-fitting KN95, or surgical mask. Cloth masks are not permitted for individuals who are required to mask.<\/p>\n

Practitioners and respondents who are appearing for hearings by phone or online do not need to be physically present in one location. If best public health practice dictates separate locations, parties do not need to make special arrangements with the immigration court.<\/p>\n

STATUS OF HEARINGS<\/span><\/h2>\n

EOIR continues to support internet-based hearings and has established\u00a0practices to guide immigration judges and parties<\/a>. Attorneys and accredited representatives are strongly encouraged to use the Openvoice and Webex platforms.\u00a0<\/i>To facilitate appearances by Openvoice and Webex, attorneys and accredited representatives may appear via those media, as available and upon the court\u2019s instruction or a party\u2019s approved motion. For internet-based hearings, practitioners and respondents do not need to be physically present in the same location. More information concerning appearances available via Openvoice and Webex is posted on\u00a0EOIR\u2019s website.<\/a><\/p>\n

Unrepresented respondents in non-detained cases who wish to appear by Openvoice or Webex should contact the immigration court for instructions.<\/p>\n

ALTERNATE FILING LOCATION<\/span><\/h2>\n

EOIR designates an alternate filing location for the purpose of filing emergency motions (such as emergency stay requests) in the event of a temporary court closure due to severe weather conditions, protests, building maintenance issues, COVID-19, and other exigent circumstances. The alternate filing location is for emergency filings only. The closure message and alternate filing location are disseminated to stakeholders and the public, and are posted on EOIR\u2019s Twitter and Facebook accounts. If a filing is due on the day of a court closure, the filing deadline is extended to the next business day that the court is open.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
