Manage the present.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>How much is the increase:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Social Security benefits and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments for approximately 70 million Americans will increase by 5.9% in 2022. This is the annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA). It is possible that your friend or family member will receive their notice in the mail before you. Please wait until January before contacting us about your mailed notice. However, you may not need to wait for your mailed notice to learn your new benefit amount for 2022: you can view your COLA notice online with your personal\u00a0<span class=\"my\">my<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"ssa\">Social Security<\/span>\u00a0account.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Who can see their notice online:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>COLA notices are available online to most beneficiaries through the Message Center of their personal\u00a0<span class=\"my\">my<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"ssa\">Social Security<\/span>\u00a0account if they created their account by November 17, 2021.\u00a0<span class=\"my\">my<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"ssa\">Social Security<\/span>\u00a0is a secure, convenient way to receive COLA notices online and save the message for later. You can also opt out of receiving notices by mail that are available online.<\/p>\n<p>Sign up for your own account and get an email or text message the next time your COLA notice is available online for you. You can also use your account to manage your benefits and much more!<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Replacement SSN card<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you are a U.S. Citizen, applying for a replacement SSN card, and choose to mail your application to your local office, you may use original or certified copies of secondary proofs of identity such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>A marriage document showing your name and either date of birth or age (only when submitted to support the application for a name change)<\/li>\n<li>A U.S. government employee identification card.<\/li>\n<li>A non-government employee identity card\/badge card showing your name and either a photograph or your date of birth.<\/li>\n<li>A health insurance card or U.S. Medicaid card showing your name and one of the following:\n<ul>\n<li>Date of birth.<\/li>\n<li>A photograph.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>A school identity card<\/li>\n<li>A school record or transcript (for the\u00a0<strong>current<\/strong>\u00a0school year) showing your name and one of the following:\n<ul>\n<li>Date of birth.<\/li>\n<li>A photograph.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>A life insurance policy showing your name and age or date of birth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>www.ssa.gov Online Services My Account Your personal\u00a0my\u00a0Social Security account gives you secure access online at www.ssa.gov.
