Even small plots of land &#8211; whether rural or urban &#8211; growing fruit, vegetables or some food animals count if $1,000 or more of such products were raised and sold, or normally would have been sold, during the Census year.<\/p>\n<p>The Census of Agriculture, taken only once every five years, looks at land use and ownership, operator characteristics, production practices, income and expenditures. Go to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.agcounts.usda.gov\/\">www.agcounts.usda.gov<\/a><\/p>\n<p>2. Enter the 12-digit survey code in the box<\/p>\n<p>3. Select My Active Surveys<\/p>\n<p>4. Select the link that says UNITED STATES 2022 CENSUS OF AGRICULTURE<\/p>\n<p>5. Verify the contact information is correct and select ADDRESS VERIFIED \u2013 START SURVEY, or make corrections by selecting MAKE CORRECTIONS<br \/>\na. Through the Census of Agriculture, producers can show the nation the value and importance of agriculture and can influence decisions that will shape the future of U.S. agriculture.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Who uses Census of Agriculture data?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Census of Agriculture data are used by all those who serve farmers and rural communities \u2014 federal, state and local governments, agribusinesses, trade associations, and many others.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Farmers and ranchers can use Census of Agriculture data to make informed decisions about the future of their own operations.<\/li>\n<li>Companies and cooperatives use the data to determine where to locate facilities that will serve agricultural producers.<\/li>\n<li>Community planners use the information to target needed services to rural residents.<\/li>\n<li>Legislators use census data when shaping farm policies and programs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Does NASS keep the information provided by individual respondents private?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>NASS is bound by law (Title 7, U.S. Code, and the Confidential Information Protection and Statistical Efficiency Act or CIPSEA, Public Law 107-347) \u2013 and pledges to every data provider \u2013 to use the information for statistical purposes only.
