It provides information about your benefits, but for specific account access, you need to go through your carrier&#8217;s portal.<\/p>\n<h2 data-sourcepos=\"1:1-1:162\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Here&#8217;s the general approach:<\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Identify Your Health Plan &amp; Carrier:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul data-sourcepos=\"5:1-7:0\">\n<li data-sourcepos=\"5:1-5:176\">Check your UAW Retiree Medical Benefits materials or contact information to see which health plan you are enrolled in (e.g., Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Aetna, etc.)<\/li>\n<li data-sourcepos=\"6:1-7:0\">Each carrier will have its own online portal for members.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Visit the Carrier&#8217;s Website:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul data-sourcepos=\"10:1-12:0\">\n<li data-sourcepos=\"10:1-10:145\">Once you know your carrier, search online for their official website (e.g., &#8220;Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan UAW Retiree Medical Benefits&#8221;).<\/li>\n<li data-sourcepos=\"11:1-12:0\">Look for a &#8220;Login&#8221; or &#8220;Member Login&#8221; section on their homepage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Register or Log In:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>\u2022 If you already have an online account:<\/strong> Enter your username and password to access your benefits information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 If you are a new user:<\/strong> Look for a &#8220;Register&#8221; or &#8220;Create an Account&#8221; link. You will typically need your member ID and other personal information to set up your account<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Starting January 1, 2024, every Trust member, regardless of their health plan, will receive an annual allowance of\u00a0<strong>$200<\/strong> for purchasing approved non-prescription medications and health-related items<\/p>\n<p>This allowance will be pre-loaded onto a \u201cflex card,\u201d which can be used for in-store purchases by simply swiping the card.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>How to Use the OTC Benefit<\/strong>:-<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>1. You can access the UAW Trust OTC benefit through the <strong>OTC Network<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>2. Simply enter your card number on the updated site, and you may need to confirm some additional information<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-74170 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.seminarsonly.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/UAW-Retiree-Medical-Benefits.jpg\" alt=\"UAW Retiree Medical Benefits\" width=\"345\" height=\"128\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seminarsonly.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/UAW-Retiree-Medical-Benefits.jpg 369w, https:\/\/seminarsonly.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/UAW-Retiree-Medical-Benefits-300x111.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 345px) 100vw, 345px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">You are not eligible for Trust coverage if you:<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>\u2022 Are eligible only for a deferred vested pension benefit under your auto company\u2019s pension plan.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Are not a retiree.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Were discharged for cause, even if you are receiving a pension from your auto company\u2019s pension plan.<\/p>\n<p>Retirees may cover dependents, which typically include a spouse and\/or children. More information can be found on the Dependent Eligibility page.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Surviving Spouses<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In the event of a retiree\u2019s passing, the spouse, known as the surviving spouse, remains eligible for Trust health coverage for the duration of his or her life. Qualifying surviving spouses must:<\/p>\n<p>Either be enrolled on the date of the retiree\u2019s death or enrolled in the active auto company plan and the active employee was eligible to retire on the date of death.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Continue payment of any required monthly contribution<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Be enrolled in both Medicare Parts A and B, once eligible<\/li>\n<li>Surviving spouses may not add new dependents; although, they may continue coverage for a dependent child who was enrolled by the retiree prior to his or her death and who continues to meet the dependent eligibility rules<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Medicare Advantage (MA) PPO plan is the primary plan<\/strong>\u00a0for Medicare-enrolled Trust members (those over age 65, or on Medicare because of a disability). Medicare-enrolled members are automatically enrolled in the MA PPO plan on January 1, following the year they qualify for Medicare.<\/p>\n<p>Certain Medicare members, such as Protected members and those enrolled in an HMO plan may not be automatically enrolled in the MA PPO plan but have the option to select the plan, if they meet all other eligibility criteria.<\/p>\n<p>If you are an eligible retiree or surviving spouse covered under another plan you can enroll in the Trust in the future. When you notify RHCC, your coverage will begin the first of the following month.<\/p>\n<p>However, note that under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), individuals are required to provide evidence of \u201cminimum essential health coverage\u201d or be subject to a penalty when they file their income tax return.<\/p>\n<p>MA PPO plans provide Medicare members with greater value than other plan offerings while preserving coverage levels and access to doctors and hospitals. These plans also have lower cost share than the Traditional Care Network (TCN) plan!<\/p>\n<p>The MA PPO plan provides access to additional programs at no extra cost:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Rewards for health activities<\/strong> \u2013 Gift cards when you complete certain important health care activities such as getting an annual checkup.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Personalized nurse support<\/strong> \u2013 Resources to help manage chronic conditions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Healthy home visit<\/strong> \u2013 Home visit from a licensed doctor or nurse to assess health and safety needs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Virtual doctor visits<\/strong> \u2013 Phone or video consult with a board-certified doctor (the office visit copay applies).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nurse help line<\/strong> \u2013 Speak with a registered nurse any time, night or day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Over-the-Counter (OTC) Program<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The Trust added an over-the-counter (OTC) benefit giving eligible members an annual allowance to order approved non-prescription medications and health-related items\u2014such as bandages, aspirin, cold and sinus medicine, and vitamins and minerals\u2014up to twice per calendar year. The dollar value of the allowance depends on your health plan.<\/p>\n<div>Eligible members are automatically enrolled; no action is required.<\/div>\n<h4>More info: uawtrust.org\/otcbenefit<\/h4>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Skilled Nursing Facility Care Expanded for All Medical Plans<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Beginning January 1, 2023, the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) benefit will be expanded for in-network care under all Trust-sponsored medical plans. A SNF is a facility outside of the hospital that provides nursing care 24 hours a day under the supervision of a physician and\/or registered nurse. There will no longer be a limitation on the allowed amount of days of care provided per benefit period. Additionally, there will no longer be a non-confinement period required to reset the benefit (when it is determined to be medically necessary because the medical criteria and guidelines are met).<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Medicare Part B Premium Subsidy <\/span><\/h2>\n<p>For Ford Retirees retiring after October 1, 1979, a Medicare Part B Premium Subsidy is provided to help Retirees, Surviving Spouses, and Surviving Same Sex Domestic Partners pay for Medicare Part B. Those enrollees receiving a Retirement Plan due to a deferred vested benefit or a pre-retirement survivor benefit are not eligible. The enrollee must be receiving a pension from the pension plan in order to be eligible; those receiving survivor\u2019s insurance are not eligible.<\/p>\n<p>A Ford Retiree cannot also receive this benefit as a Surviving Spouse or Surviving Same-Sex Domestic Partner. The Medicare Part B Premium Benefit is $76.20 per month. Enrollees eligible for Medicare Part B must enroll and remain enrolled in Part B to be eligible to receive this benefit. Retirees under age 65 who are disabled or have End Stage Renal Disease are also eligible for this benefit, provided they have enrolled in Part B.
