This can occur because\u00a0<a style=\"color: #808000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mywifiext.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/www.mywifiext.net\/<\/a> is not a regular Internet website.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>It is a local web address used to open the settings (genie or Smart Wizard) of a NETGEAR wireless range extender. Your computer must be either physically connected by Ethernet or wirelessly connected to your NETGEAR range extender to access this web address.<\/p>\n<p>When you visit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mywifiext.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/www.mywifiext.net\/<\/a>\u00a0on a computer that is connected to your NETGEAR range extender, you see this screen:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.downloads.netgear.com\/files\/answer_media\/images\/Extender_1.PNG\" alt=\"Screenshot of a successful connection to mywifiext.net\" width=\"638\" height=\"325\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If your computer is not connected to the Internet, you might see one of the following error messages:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge<\/strong>. \u201cPage cannot be displayed\u201d or \u201cYou are not connected to a network.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>Google Chrome<\/strong>.\u00a0\u201cUnable to connect to the Internet. Google Chrome can\u2019t display the webpage because your computer isn\u2019t connected to the Internet.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>Firefox<\/strong>. \u201cServer not found. Firefox can\u2019t find the server at www.mywifiext.net.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>Safari<\/strong>. \u201cCan&#8217;t find server.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ng-procedure-intro\" style=\"color: #800000;\">To troubleshoot issues connecting to www.mywifiext.net:<\/span><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Bring your range extender into the same room as your wireless router.<br \/>\nAfter setup is complete and you have a working connection to the wireless router, you can move the extender to its intended location.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that the NETGEAR wireless range extender is plugged into a power source. If the extender is receiving power, the power LED lights.<\/li>\n<li>If your NETGEAR wireless range extender has a PC to Extender LED or a Device to Extender LED, make sure that it is lit.<br \/>\nIf it is not lit, unplug both ends of the Ethernet cable that is connecting your range extender to your device and plug it in again.<\/li>\n<li>In your web browser\u2019s address bar, enter the extender&#8217;s default IP address:\u00a0<strong>192.168.1.250<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>If you still cannot access your extender, reset your browser and try again.<\/li>\n<li>Try using a different web browser to verify that the issue is not browser related.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/chrome\/browser\/desktop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google Chrome<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mozilla.org\/en-US\/firefox\/new\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mozilla Firefox<\/a>\u00a0are free browsers and are available for all major operating systems.<\/li>\n<li>Connect your PC\u00a0to the extender via Ethernet cable.<\/li>\n<li>Assign your computer a static IP address.<br \/>\nBefore you change any network settings, note your current\u00a0<span class=\"ng-gui-element\">Default gateway<\/span>\u00a0(Windows) or\u00a0<span class=\"ng-gui-element\">Router\u00a0<\/span>(Mac) address.
