Side rail ads will start serving on wider screens on Google Adsense<\/span><\/h2>\n

Today, Google Adsense announcing a new ad format called side rails. Side rails are ads that stick to the sides of your pages when they’re viewed on widescreen devices, such as desktops. If you already have anchor ads turned on, side rails will automatically start to appear on your site after 13-12-2022<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

If you’d prefer not to show side rails, you can turn off this option in your Auto ads settings.<\/p>\n

What does this mean for me?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

\u2022 From 13-12-2022, if you’re using anchor ads, this ad format will start to appear on your sites on wider screens such as desktop devices.<\/p>\n

\u2022 You may see an increase in your auto ads revenue.<\/p>\n

\u2022 The change will apply to all sites that have “Anchor ads” enabled in your AdSense account.<\/p>\n

What should I do next?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

\u2022 There’s no action required from you for this change to take effect on your sites.<\/p>\n

\u2022 If you’d prefer not to show side rails, you can turn off “Side rails” in your Auto ads settings.<\/p>\n

Before you start<\/span><\/h2>\n

Make sure your site is listed on your\u00a0Ads<\/strong>\u00a0page. If not, you’ll need to\u00a0add the site to your sites list\u00a0before you set up Auto ads.<\/p>\n

How to set up Auto ads<\/span><\/h2>\n

  1. Sign in<\/a>\u00a0to your AdSense account.<\/li>\n
  2. Click\u00a0Ads<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  3. In the table of all your sites, click Edit\u00a0\"Edit\"\u00a0next to your site. Your site opens in the\u00a0ad settings preview.\n
    Tip<\/strong>: You can use the preview to try out different ad settings before your Auto ads go live.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  4. Under “Ad settings”, turn on\u00a0Auto ads<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  5. (Optional) Turn off\u00a0Optimize your existing ad units?<\/strong>\u00a0if you don’t want Google to optimize your existing ad units and your Auto ads together and place ads in the best performing ad placements.<\/li>\n
  6. (Optional) Click\u00a0Ad formats<\/strong> to turn off in-page and overlay ads, or to turn on Multiplex ads on your pages<\/li>\n
  7. (Optional) Click\u00a0Ad load<\/strong> and use the slider to control the number of ads you show on your pages.<\/li>\n
  8. (Optional) In the “Page exclusions” section, click\u00a0Manage<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a0exclude specific pages from showing Auto ads.\n
    Note<\/strong>: Don’t add any page exclusions if you plan to run an experiment. Page exclusions are not available for experiments. You can add page exclusions after your experiment has completed.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
