Payments are expected to be issued between October 2022 and January 2023.<\/p>\n<p class=\"card-text\">Some taxpayers will receive their payment on a debit card.<\/p>\n<p class=\"card-text\">FTB has partnered with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mctrpayment.com\/\">Money Network<\/a>\u00a0to provide payments distributed by debit card.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"requirements\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Determine your eligibility<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You are eligible if you:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li id=\"NoteRef\">Filed your 2020 tax return by October 15, 2021.<\/li>\n<li>Meet the California adjusted gross income (CA AGI) limits described in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftb.ca.gov\/about-ftb\/newsroom\/middle-class-tax-refund\/index.html#receive\">What you may receive<\/a>\u00a0section<\/li>\n<li>Were not\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftb.ca.gov\/forms\/2020\/2020-1540.html#QualifyingChild\">eliglible to be claimed as a dependent<\/a>\u00a0in the 2020 tax year<\/li>\n<li>Were a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftb.ca.gov\/file\/personal\/residency-status\/index.html\">California resident<\/a>\u00a0for six months or more of the 2020 tax year<\/li>\n<li>Are a California resident on the date the payment is issued<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"payment\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">How you&#8217;ll receive your payment<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Californians will receive their MCTR payment by direct deposit or debit card.<\/p>\n<p>Generally, direct deposit payments will be made to eligible taxpayers who e-filed their 2020 CA tax return and received their CA tax refund by direct deposit. MCTR debit card payments will be mailed to the remaining eligible taxpayers.<\/p>\n<p>You will receive your payment by mail in the form of a debit card if you:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Filed a paper return.<\/li>\n<li>Had a balance due.<\/li>\n<li>Received your\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftb.ca.gov\/about-ftb\/newsroom\/golden-state-stimulus\/index.html\">Golden State Stimulus (GSS)<\/a>\u00a0payment by check.<\/li>\n<li>Received your tax refund by check regardless of filing method.<\/li>\n<li>Received your 2020 tax refund by direct deposit, but have since changed your banking institution or bank account number.<\/li>\n<li>Received an advance payment from your tax service provider, or paid your tax preparer fees using your tax refund.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"card-img pb-0 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ftb.ca.gov\/images\/MCTR_Envelope_Card_Logo.png\" alt=\"MCTR mailer envelope, debit card, and Money Network logo.\" width=\"556\" height=\"361\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">When you&#8217;ll receive your payment<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>MCTR direct deposit payments for Californians who received GSS I or II are expected to be issued to bank accounts between October 7, 2022 and October 25, 2022. The remaining direct deposits will occur between October 28, 2022 and November 14, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>MCTR direct deposit recipients who have changed their banking information since filing their 2020 tax return will receive a debit card. Debit cards for this group will be mailed between December 17, 2022 and January 14, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>MCTR debit card payments for Californians who received GSS I and II are expected to be mailed between October 25, 2022 and December 10, 2022.
