The tests help Texas schools determine whether you\u2019re ready for college-level courses in the areas of reading, writing, and math.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re not ready for college-level courses, the tests help determine what types of courses or intervention will best prepare you for college-level work. You take TSIA2 tests on a computer and, depending on school policy, may get your results immediately after you finish the test.<\/p>\n<p>Not all Texas college students have to take TSIA2. If you\u2019ve met college readiness standards on a standardized test like the SAT or successfully completed a high school college preparatory course, you may be exempt. Contact the college you\u2019ll be attending to see if you need to take TSIA2.<\/p>\n<p>Before you take TSIA, you\u2019ll need to complete a preassessment activity. The institution or school district where you test will provide the activity and document your participation.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>A few things to know about the Accuplacer Placement:<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>1. The Accuplacer is a computer-based exam<\/p>\n<p>2. The Accuplacer is an assessment of your skills<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0Calculators are provided within the test.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Students cannot bring their own calculator.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0The test typically takes about two hours to complete for both math and writing.<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0The results are immediate so you do not have to wait to find out where you placed.<\/p>\n<p>6. If taking a subject-specific test (Math, Writing, or Reading only) the testing fee is $7.50.
