It&#8217;s important that you have a separate device so you can use your iPhone to scan a\u00a0QR code.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"\" data-outlined=\"false\">If you order a SIM card for your iPhone, you must activate service with your physical Fi SIM card before you can activate Fi with an eSIM.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-outlined=\"false\">You can activate Google Fi on iOS with an embedded SIM card (eSIM) instead of a physical SIM. You can also use cellular services with an eSIM.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">eSIM benefits<\/span><\/h3>\n<div class=\"no-margin\">\n<ul>\n<li>Quick and easy set-up process without the need\u00a0for a physical SIM card.<\/li>\n<li>You can&#8217;t\u00a0lose an\u00a0eSIM.<\/li>\n<li>SIM card waste is eliminated and reduced.<\/li>\n<li>You can easily switch between your Google Fi eSIM and your carrier&#8217;s\u00a0physical SIM card. No need to remove the physical SIM card.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Eligibility:<\/strong>\u00a0Google Fi on iOS with an eSIM only works on iPhones SE (2020 version), XR, XS, XS Max, and 11 and up.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Step 1: Join Fi and check iPhone compatibility<\/span><\/h2>\n<div>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/fi.google.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google Fi website<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>At the top right, tap\u00a0<strong>Join Fi<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select your iPhone from a list of models.\n<ul>\n<li>If you select \u201cNewest models\u201d or &#8220;Newer models,&#8221; you can opt in to &#8220;Quick setup&#8221; to activate Fi on with an eSIM. With this option, the user doesn&#8217;t receive a physical SIM card<\/li>\n<li>If you select &#8220;Recent models&#8221; or &#8220;Older models,&#8221; follow the on-screen instructions. eSIM doesn&#8217;t work with older iPhone models<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If eSIM works with your iPhone model, opt in to \u201cGet set up in 15 minutes\u201d during sign up so you can activate Fi with an eSIM<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Step 2: Go to the Google Fi iOS app<\/span><\/h2>\n<div>\n<ol>\n<li>If you haven&#8217;t downloaded it already, download the Google Fi iOS app.<\/li>\n<li>Once you opt in to eSIM activation on the Fi website, the Google Fi iOS app will perform device and iOS compatibility checks.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>If both are compatible,<\/strong>\u00a0select\u00a0<strong>Get started<\/strong>\u00a0to begin eSIM activation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>If either are incompatible,<\/strong>\u00a0you&#8217;ll get an error. The app walks you through plan activation, phone number setup, and your preferences.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Tip:\u00a0<\/strong>Make sure you sign into your Google Fi account and not another Google account. If for some reason the incorrect account was signed in and you need to scan a new code:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>On your iPhone or iPad, open your\u00a0settings.<\/li>\n<li>Tap\u00a0<strong>Cellular<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tap the plan you want to erase &gt;\u00a0<strong>Remove Cellular Plan<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>If the QR code doesn&#8217;t work:<\/strong>\u00a0Refresh the QR code page and scan the new QR code. If you need help,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/fi\/gethelp\" rel=\"noopener\">contact support<\/a>. Activation must take place in the US, if the user switches SIMs while roaming internationally, it may affect their ability to roam.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To switch from a physical SIM to an eSIM:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Make sure your physical SIM is inserted<\/li>\n<li>Delete and reinstall the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/fi.google.com\/app\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google Fi iOS app<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Sign in to the app with your Fi account<\/li>\n<li>When prompted to set up\u00a0the physical SIM card or\u00a0eSIM, tap\u00a0<strong>Set up using eSIM<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>To switch from an eSIM to a physical SIM:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Make sure you have an active eSIM and insert the physical SIM.<\/li>\n<li>Delete and reinstall the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/fi.google.com\/app\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google Fi iOS app<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Sign in to the app with your Fi account.<\/li>\n<li>When prompted, tap\u00a0<strong>Continue<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Tip:<\/strong>\u00a0When you switch from a physical SIM to an eSIM, your iPhone may have multiple cellular profiles associated with your number.
