Some online features won&#8217;t be available when you add your device this way.<\/p>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li>Go to\u00a0<a class=\"ocpExternalLink\" href=\"https:\/\/account.microsoft.com\/devices\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">account.microsoft.com\/devices<\/a>, sign in, and select\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Register device<\/b><b class=\"ocpLegacyBold\">\u00a0<\/b>to continue.<\/li>\n<li>Enter your device&#8217;s serial number to register it to your account.<\/li>\n<li>Select your device to see its warranty information.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"ocpAlert\">\n<p class=\"ocpAlertSection\"><b class=\"ocpNote\">Note:\u00a0<\/b>If your Surface is managed or owned by your company or organization, you don&#8217;t need to register it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"bkmk_fix\" class=\"ocpSection\" role=\"region\" aria-label=\"Fix a device\">\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Fix a device<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you&#8217;re having problems with your device, you can get help online and create a service order. After you register your device, here&#8217;s how to create a service order:<\/p>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li>Go to\u00a0<a class=\"ocpExternalLink\" href=\"https:\/\/account.microsoft.com\/devices\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">account.microsoft.com\/devices<\/a>, sign in, and select the device that&#8217;s having issues.<\/li>\n<li>Select\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Start order<\/b>, then follow the instructions.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"bkmk_rename\" class=\"ocpSection\" role=\"region\" aria-label=\"Rename a device\">\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Rename a device<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Change the default name of your device so you can quickly identify it in your Microsoft account. When you want to download an app or game to another device, you&#8217;ll be able to find the device using its new name.<\/p>\n<p>On the PC you want to rename:<\/p>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li>Select\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Start\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0&gt;\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Settings\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0&gt;\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">System\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0&gt;\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">About\u00a0<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Select\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Rename this PC<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Enter a new name and select\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Next<\/b>. Manage your limit by removing devices you don&#8217;t use or no longer have access to. To unlink a device:<\/p>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li>Sign in with your Microsoft account at\u00a0<a class=\"ocpExternalLink\" href=\"https:\/\/account.microsoft.com\/devices\/content\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">account.microsoft.com\/devices\/content<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Find the device you want to remove and select\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Unlink<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Review your device details and select\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Unlink<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Once you unlink a device, it won&#8217;t count towards your device limit.
