It&#8217;s the easiest way to get connected.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re replacing a device that&#8217;s already installed in your home, make sure to disconnect it before following the activation steps below.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"mcetoc_1ej2sp33i5\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">If You Have an xFi Gateway or You Purchased Your Own Approved Modem\/Router<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Activating an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.xfinity.com\/support\/articles\/broadband-gateways-userguides\">xFi Gateway<\/a>\u00a0or an approved modem\/router is simple with the Xfinity app (download via\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/xfinity-xfi\/id1178765645?ls=1&amp;mt=8\">App Store<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.xfinity.digitalhome\">Google Play<\/a>). Please note that the xFi Fiber Gateway (Arris X5001) is only available through professional installation and can&#8217;t be activated using the Xfinity app.<\/p>\n<p>For\u00a0<strong>WiFi Ready Apartments<\/strong>\u00a0with\u00a0<strong>pre-installed xFi Fiber Gateways<\/strong>, Xfinity app activation is\u00a0<strong>not<\/strong> available. You\u2019ll need to activate by using the default SSID and Password listed on the Gateway sticker to connect to WiFi and then open a web browser to configure your Xfinity Internet.<\/p>\n<p>To see which model you have, look on the bottom of your Gateway.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re not prompted to activate after signing into the Xfinity app, you can navigate to the activation entry point by selecting the\u00a0<strong>Account<\/strong>\u00a0icon from the top-left corner of the<strong>\u00a0Overview<\/strong>\u00a0tab on the Xfinity app and then selecting\u00a0<strong>Activate xFi Gateway or Modem<\/strong>\u00a0under the\u00a0<strong>Devices<\/strong> section.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"section_media\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qYsXZTNQdbU\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qYsXZTNQdbU\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"mcetoc_1el278812p\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">If You Have Xfinity Voice<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re activating Xfinity Voice service without Xfinity Internet or your mobile device does not support the Xfinity app, you can use the steps below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong>\u00a0These steps apply to both Xfinity equipment and approved owned equipment. Avoid cramped spaces and anything that can block the device signal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Connect your gateway.<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Plug the power cord into the back of your Gateway and then into an electrical outlet.<\/li>\n<li>Screw one end of the coaxial cable into the\u00a0<strong>Cable In\/RF In<\/strong>\u00a0port on your Gateway or modem and the other end into the cable wall outlet. Make sure this connection is finger tight.<\/li>\n<li>If you subscribe to Xfinity Voice service, connect your telephone to the\u00a0<strong>Tel 1<\/strong>\u00a0connection on your Gateway or modem using a telephone cord.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Wait for your gateway or modem to be ready.<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Your Gateway or modem may take up to 10 minutes to be ready to activate. Make sure the lights appear as described below before moving on to the next step. Don&#8217;t unplug your Gateway or modem during this process.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>If you have an Xfinity Gateway with multiple lights on the front, the\u00a0<strong>Power<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>US\/DS<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Online<\/strong>\u00a0lights should remain solid for at least one minute and the\u00a0<strong>2.4 GHz<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>5 GHz<\/strong>\u00a0lights should start blinking.<\/li>\n<li>If you have an Xfinity Gateway with only one light on the top, it should remain solid white for at least a minute.<\/li>\n<li>If you have a third-party model, see the manufacturer instructions to see when your modem is ready to be activated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Establish a temporary internet connection.<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Next, you need to establish internet connectivity either through WiFi or an Ethernet cable.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Connect through WiFi (if your Gateway\/modem supports a wireless connection)\n<ul>\n<li>Look for the Network Name (SSID) and Password printed on the side, back or bottom of your Gateway or modem. The name may look like\u00a0<strong>Home-XXXX<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>XFSETUP-XXXX<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Go to the WiFi settings on your WiFi-enabled device and select the Network Name from the list of available networks. Enter the password when prompted. If you&#8217;re prompted to enter a PIN instead of a password, click the\u00a0<strong>Connect Using a Security Key<\/strong>\u00a0link to enter the password in the\u00a0<strong>Security Key<\/strong>\u00a0field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Connect through an Ethernet cable\n<ul>\n<li>Plug the Ethernet cable into one of the open ports on your Gateway or modem until it clicks. Plug the other end into the Ethernet port of your computer. The Ethernet port will light up when successfully connected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9278 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.seminarsonly.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/xfinitymobile.jpg\" alt=\"xfinitymobile\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seminarsonly.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/xfinitymobile.jpg 400w, https:\/\/seminarsonly.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/xfinitymobile-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/seminarsonly.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/xfinitymobile-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Activate your gateway or modem.<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Once you&#8217;ve established a temporary internet connection and if don&#8217;t automatically see a welcome message to begin setup, open a web browser and go to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/xfinity.com\/activate\">xfinity.com\/activate<\/a>. If you replaced your Xfinity Gateway and kept the same settings during activation, your previously connected devices should automatically reconnect.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Go to the\u00a0<strong>WiFi settings<\/strong>\u00a0on your WiFi-enabled devices. Once you see your WiFi name appear in a list of available networks, you can connect your devices to your home network.<\/li>\n<li>Select your home network WiFi name and connect with the password. If you changed this during activation, be sure to use the new one that you set up.<strong>Note:<\/strong>\u00a0Xfinity Gateways come with a built-in Xfinity WiFi home hotspot (<strong>xfinitywifi<\/strong>) that may take up to 24 hours to broadcast.
