How to change your Xbox gamertag : Ways to change your gamertag<\/span><\/h2>\n
You can change your Xbox gamertag online or through your Xbox console.<\/span><\/div>\n

If this is your first time changing your gamertag, you can change it one time for free. This is regardless of whether we created it for you automatically when you first signed up for Xbox (meaning you didn\u2019t choose it yourself) or if you created your own gamertag at signup.<\/span><\/p>\n

After changing your gamertag once, all future gamertag changes require a fee (cost varies by region and currency).<\/span><\/div>\n

Note that Microsoft can at any time deem a gamertag harmful or inappropriate (even if the \u201cChange gamertag\u201d tool allows it to be created), and we can change that gamertag without warning. For more info on why we remove gamertag, see:<\/span><\/p>\n

    Choose your new gamertag<\/a><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. Sign in with the Microsoft account email address and password associated with your gamertag. Confirm that you\u2019re signed in to the right account by ensuring it says your current gamertag in the top-right corner of the page after signing in.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Enter the new gamertag you want in the text box and select\u00a0Check availability<\/strong>.<\/span>\n

    Gamertags can be up to 12 characters long, including spaces. They can\u2019t start with a number. If you receive a \u201cThat name isn\u2019t available. Try a different one\u201d message, that means you\u2019ll need to create another one.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  4. On the next page, review how the gamertag will look across Xbox services.<\/span>\n
