You are an administrator:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"5:1-5:197\"><span class=\"citation-0 recitation citation-end-0\">If you&#8217;re an administrator for your organization&#8217;s Microsoft 365 or Azure Active Directory tenant, you can reset a user&#8217;s password and send them the new password via email.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 data-sourcepos=\"5:1-5:197\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Here&#8217;s how<\/span><\/h4>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"5:1-5:197\"><strong>\u2022 Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center:<\/strong> Log in to the admin center with your administrator credentials.<\/p>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"5:1-5:197\"><strong>\u2022 Navigate to Users:<\/strong> Go to the &#8220;Users&#8221; section and select &#8220;Active users.&#8221; Select the user: Find the user whose password needs to be reset and select their name.<\/p>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"5:1-5:197\"><strong>\u2022 Reset the password:<\/strong> Choose the option to reset the password. You can either let the system generate a new password automatically or create one yourself.<\/p>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"5:1-5:197\"><strong>\u2022 Send the password:<\/strong> Make sure the option to send the password to the user&#8217;s email is selected. Click &#8220;Reset password&#8221; to complete the process.<\/p>\n<h3 data-sourcepos=\"13:1-13:47\"><strong>2. You are a user who forgot your password:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"15:1-15:144\">If you&#8217;re a user who has forgotten your password, you can usually reset it yourself through the self-service password reset process. Here&#8217;s how:<\/p>\n<ul data-sourcepos=\"17:1-21:0\">\n<li data-sourcepos=\"17:1-17:109\"><strong>Go to the Microsoft Online Password Reset page:<\/strong> Visit the password reset page at <a href=\"https:\/\/passwordreset.microsoftonline.com\/\">https:\/\/passwordreset.microsoftonline.com\/<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li data-sourcepos=\"18:1-18:94\"><strong>Enter your username:<\/strong> <span class=\"citation-7 recitation citation-end-7\">Type in your work or school email address or username.<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-sourcepos=\"19:1-19:153\"><strong>Follow the prompts:<\/strong> You&#8217;ll be asked to verify your identity through methods like security questions, a phone number, or an alternate email address.<\/li>\n<li data-sourcepos=\"20:1-21:0\"><strong>Reset your password:<\/strong> Once you&#8217;ve verified your identity, you&#8217;ll be able to create a new password.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Problem<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A user or admin forgot his or her password and can&#8217;t sign in to Office 365, Microsoft Azure, or Microsoft Intune.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"solution\" class=\"heading-anchor\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Solution<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To fix this issue, do one of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Try to reset your own password by using the Self-Service Password Reset wizard:\n<ul>\n<li>If you&#8217;re using a work or school account, go to https:\/\/passwordreset.microsoftonline.com.<\/li>\n<li>If you&#8217;re using a Microsoft account, go to https:\/\/account.live.com\/ResetPassword.aspx.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If the admin turned on the capability to let you to reset your own password, you will be able to reset your own password. Otherwise, the password reset form gives you the option to contact your admin.<\/li>\n<li>If you&#8217;re an admin and you want to enable password reset for your users, see Quickstart: Self-service password reset.<\/li>\n<li>If you&#8217;re an admin, you can try to reset your own password if you had already set up an alternate email address and a mobile phone number.<\/li>\n<li>If you&#8217;re an admin and your company has more than one admin, ask another admin to reset your password.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"alert is-info\">\n<h3 class=\"alert-title\">\u00a0Note<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>You can use the Self-Service Password Reset wizard to contact Support when self-service password reset fails. You may need to wait a few seconds before the link to contact Support appears<\/li>\n<li>When you submit your request to Support, include your name, telephone number and email address so that Support knows how to contact you<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"resend-a-users-password---admin-help\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Resend a user&#8217;s password &#8211; Admin Help<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This article explains how to resend the notification email to a new user in Office 365. This can happen when you create a new user and they don&#8217;t get an email with their new password. You do this by resetting the user&#8217;s password.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"before-you-begin\" class=\"heading-anchor\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Before you begin<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This article is for people who set password expiration policy for a business, school, or nonprofit. To complete these steps, you need to sign in with your Microsoft 365 admin account. To reset the password, open the app launcher and select\u00a0<strong>Admin<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In the Microsoft 365 admin center, select\u00a0<strong>Users<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Active users<\/strong>, and then select the key icon next to the user who requested the reset.<\/li>\n<li>Select\u00a0<strong>Auto-generate password<\/strong>\u00a0to have a random password automatically created.<\/li>\n<li>Select\u00a0<strong>Reset<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 id=\"steps-reset-a-business-password-for-a-user\" class=\"heading-anchor\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Steps: Reset a business password for a user<\/span><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>In the admin center, go to the\u00a0<strong>Users<\/strong>\u00a0&gt;\u00a0Active users\u00a0page.<\/li>\n<li>On the\u00a0<strong>Active users<\/strong>\u00a0page, select the user and then select\u00a0<strong>Reset password<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Follow the instructions on the\u00a0<strong>Reset password<\/strong>\u00a0page to auto-generate a new password for the user or create one for them, and then select\u00a0<strong>Reset<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Enter an email address the user can get to so they receive the new password, and follow up with them to make sure they got it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 id=\"reset-my-admin-password\" class=\"heading-anchor\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Reset my admin password<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Use these steps if you forgot your password but you&#8217;re able to sign in to Microsoft 365 because, for example, your password is saved in your browser:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Select your name (icon) in upper right corner &gt;\u00a0<strong>My Account<\/strong>\u00a0&gt;\u00a0<strong>Personal Info<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Under\u00a0<strong>Contact details<\/strong>, double-check that your\u00a0<strong>Alternate email<\/strong>\u00a0is accurate and that you&#8217;ve provided a mobile phone number. If not, change them now.<\/li>\n<li>Sign out: select your name in the upper right corner &gt;\u00a0<strong>Sign out<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Now sign in again: type your user name &gt;\u00a0<strong>Next<\/strong>\u00a0&gt; and then select\u00a0<strong>Forgot password<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Follow the steps in the wizard to reset your password.
