It will provide students a last-dollar scholarship, meaning the scholarship will cover tuition and fees not covered by the Federal Pell grant, the TN Education Lottery Scholarship, and the TN Student Assistance Award; students may use the scholarship at any of the state\u2019s 13 community colleges, 27 colleges of applied technology, or other eligible institutions offering an associate\u2019s degree program.<\/p>\n<p>Please note the award will not cover the balance of tuition and fees at a public four-year or private institution. While removing the financial burden is key, a critical component of Tennessee Promise is the individual guidance each participant will receive from a mentor who will assist the student as he or she navigates the college admissions process.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Tennessee Promise participants must complete eight hours of community service per term enrolled, as well as maintain satisfactory academic progress (2.0 GPA) at their institution.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-17726 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.seminarsonly.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Tennessee-Promise.jpg\" alt=\"Tennessee Promise\" width=\"254\" height=\"175\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For optimal performance, please use a browser other than Internet Explorer.\u00a0\u00a0Information provided by the student when creating an account and applying for scholarships online must be accurate.\u00a0 Failure to provide accurate information will cause a delay in determining your scholarship eligibility or potential loss of an award.\u00a0 You must know the following when creating a student portal account:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Student\u2019s First Name and Last Name \u2013 as it appears on the Social Security card<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Student\u2019s Social Security Number \u2013 as it appears on the Social Security card<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Student\u2019s Date of Birth<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Student\u2019s email address (if available) &#8211; THEC\/TSAC strongly encourages students to provide a personal email address, rather than a school-issued email address.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"lIVuSwJr0v\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.seminarsonly.com\/news\/https-192-168-l-254-254-how-to-update-default-wifi-ssid\/\">https \/\/192.168.l.254.254 : How to update default WiFi SSID<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;https \/\/192.168.l.254.254 : How to update default WiFi SSID&#8221; &#8212; Seminarsonly.com\" src=\"https:\/\/www.seminarsonly.com\/news\/https-192-168-l-254-254-how-to-update-default-wifi-ssid\/embed\/#?secret=vo9gDhO4se#?secret=lIVuSwJr0v\" data-secret=\"lIVuSwJr0v\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Applying for a scholarship (example: the Tennessee Promise) is not complete once a student portal account has been created.<\/p>\n<p>Next, you must re-enter your Username and Password and answer the challenge question.\u00a0 Once you have accepted the \u201cUser Agreement\u201d, click the \u201cApply for Scholarships\u201d button and then click the appropriate scholarship program to complete and submit the online application.<\/p>\n<p>For future student portal access to apply online or to view your financial aid summary, it is important to remember the Username and Password you have created.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Eligibility<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Tennessee resident\/U.S. citizen\/eligible non-citizen\/students who graduate from an eligible high School, homeschool, or earn a GED\/HISET\u00a0(prior to 19th\u00a0birthday) can receive an award at an eligible postsecondary institution toward tuition and mandatory fees after all other\u00a0gift aid has been first applied.<\/p>\n<p>Students must attend mandatory meetings and participate in a mentoring program.\u00a0 College students must attend full-time, continue to participate in the mentoring program, and perform 8 hours of community service prior to each term the award is received.\u00a0<strong>\u00a0This scholarship program began\u00a0in the 2015-16 academic year.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Application Process<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>High School students will be required to complete the Tennessee Promise application at\u00a0TSAC Student Portal\u00a0by November 1 for the fall term and the FAFSA by February 1 at\u00a0www.fafsa.gov.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">If students and their families haven\u2019t filed taxes by the deadline, can they still file the FAFSA before the Tennessee Promise deadline?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Yes. Students can file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) anytime between October 1 and the deadline and still be eligible for Tennessee Promise. Beginning in the 2017-18 academic year, students and families file the FAFSA using \u201cprior-prior year\u201d tax information, meaning that 2015 tax information was used for the 2017-2018 FAFSA.<\/p>\n<p>Student can use the IRS Data Retrieval tool when filling out the FAFSA to gather the 2015 tax information.<\/p>\n<p>Some students may also be asked to verify their FAFSA information. If a student is selected for verification, he or she must provide the necessary documentation to the institution in order to be awarded the Tennessee Promise scholarship.
