Share stories of inspiring adolescent girls or girl-led organizations who are developing innovative solutions or leading efforts towards positive social change, including gender equality, in their communities and nations. Let\u2019s amplify their leadership, actions and impact to inspire others.<\/p>\n<p>2. Participate in a youth-led digital activation launching on International Day of the Girl. Young people across the world are developing a digital activism campaign, aiming to raise the diversity of girls\u2019 voices and their vision for a reimagined future.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">History of International Day of the Girl Child<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In 1995 at the World Conference on Women in Beijing countries unanimously adopted the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action \u2013 the most progressive blueprint ever for advancing the rights of not only women but girls. The Beijing Declaration is the first to specifically call out girls\u2019 rights.<\/p>\n<p>The International Day of the Girl Child focuses attention on the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote girls\u2019 empowerment and the fulfilment of their human rights. The first International Day of the Girl Child was observed on October 11, 2012, and its theme at that time was &#8220;Ending Child Marriage&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>This year, under the theme, \u201cMy voice, our equal future\u201d, let\u2019s seize the opportunity to reimagine a better world inspired by adolescent girls \u2013 energized and recognized, counted and invested in.<\/p>\n<p>Today, these movements have expanded. They are being organized by and for adolescent girls, and tackling issues like child marriage, education inequality, gender-based violence, climate change, self-esteem, and girls\u2019 rights to enter places of worship or public spaces during menstruation.
