Strong magnitude of \u00a05.9 earthquake in Tokyo: No Tsunami Warning<\/span><\/h2>\n

Chiba, Chibashi, Japan was recently rocked by an earthquake of magnitude 6, just moments ago. It occurred at a depth of about 61 kilometres late at night on October 7, 2021, at 10:41 local time, and was felt all over the world.
\nThe first seismological agency to file a report on the occurrence was the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ).<\/p>\n

Geoscience Australia (GeoAu) provided a second report listing the earthquake’s magnitude as 6.0. Others reporting the same quake include the United States Geological Survey at magnitude 5.9, the R\u00e9seau National de Surveillance Sismique (R\u00e9NaSS) in France at magnitude 6.2, Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency at magnitude 5.8, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre at magnitude 5.9, and Japan’s National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience at magnitude 6.4.<\/p>\n

PM Fumio Kishida told reporters late Thursday that he had directed officials to assist earthquake victims and prevent further damage.<\/p>\n

The prime minister’s office has formed an earthquake impact assessment and monitoring task force.<\/p>\n

Nuclear power plant Tokai No. 2 of Japan Atomic Power Co. in Ibaraki Prefecture near Tokyo has been found to be normal, according to prefectural government officials.<\/p>\n

No damage was reported at Chiba’s Narita Airport, which is east of Tokyo.<\/p>\n

Temporary inspections of the airport’s runways resulted in the reopening of those areas after no damage was found.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister told reporters that the last time an earthquake of an upper 5 magnitude was registered in Tokyo’s 23 wards was on March 11, 2011, when a magnitude-9.0 quake struck the northeast of the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
