Could Not Activate Cellular Data Network : iPhone Error Fix<\/span><\/h2>\n

This is a common error when travelling for whatever reason. This could be due to a poor connection to the wireless network, but it’s more likely that the Apple iPhone’s settings are out of calibration. Consider one of the following fixes.<\/p>\n

Firstly, ensure you have the latest Carrier Update (with WiFi connected open Settings>General>About) and accept a carrier update if one appears on screen.<\/p>\n

Next, turn off your iPhone.<\/p>\n

Remove Sim Card.<\/p>\n

Turn on iPhone and connect with WiFi.<\/p>\n

Go into Settings>General>Reset and Reset Network Settings.<\/p>\n

Turn the phone OFF.<\/p>\n

Insert Sim Card.<\/p>\n

Turn the phone ON.<\/p>\n

That worked for me after trying EVERYTHING including a full restore via iTunes which is a long process.<\/p>\n

Fix 1 \u2013 Clear Profiles<\/h3>\n
    \n
  1. Open \u201cSettings<\/strong>\u201d > \u201cGeneral<\/strong>\u201d > \u201cVPN<\/strong>\u201d (if it exists).<\/li>\n
  2. Look for an option called \u201cProfiles<\/strong>\u201c. If it doesn\u2019t exist, try Fix 2.<\/li>\n
  3. Clear anything you have listed\u00a0in the \u201cProfiles<\/strong>\u201d section.<\/li>\n
  4. Power down, then restart the phone.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Fix 2 \u2013 Reset Networking<\/h3>\n
      \n
    1. Open \u201cSettings<\/strong>\u201d from the Home screen.<\/li>\n
    2. Tap \u201cGeneral<\/strong>\u201c.<\/li>\n
    3. Select \u201cReset<\/strong>\u201c.<\/li>\n
    4. Choose \u201cReset\u00a0Network\u00a0Settings<\/strong>\u201c.<\/li>\n
    5. Power down the iPhone by pressing and holding the\u00a0Sleep\/Wake<\/strong>\u00a0button on the top of the device, then sliding the \u201cOff<\/strong>\u201d slider.<\/li>\n
    6. Wait about 10 seconds, then power the iPhone back on.<\/li>\n
    7. Open a web browser and see if things are operating as expected.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Fix 3 \u2013 Fill in APN Info<\/h3>\n
        \n
      1. Open \u201cSettings<\/strong>\u201d from the Home screen.<\/li>\n
      2. Depending on your version of the iOS, go to the following path:\n
          \n
        • \u201cCellular<\/strong>\u201d > \u201cCellular Data Options<\/strong>\u201d > \u201cCellular Network<\/strong>\u201c.<\/li>\n
        • \u201cMobile Data<\/strong>\u201d > \u201cMobile Data Options<\/strong>\u201d > \u201cMobile Data Network<\/strong>\u201c.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
        • Type the word \u201cinternet<\/strong>\u201d for both APN categories (\u201cMobile Data<\/strong>\u201d & \u201cPersonal Hotspot<\/strong>\u201c)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          You can also try resetting the APN data using the \u201cReset Settings<\/strong>\u201d option on the \u201cCellular\/Mobile Data Network<\/strong>\u201d screen.<\/p>\n
