Likewise, if you\u2019re retiring past age 65, you\u2019re eligible to enroll in these plans.<\/p>\n<p>Your TRS-Care Medicare plan are much different from what you may find on the private market. As a retired Texas public school employee, you\u2019re entitled to comprehensive benefits at competitive prices.<\/p>\n<p>Look for the\u00a0<strong>TRS-Care Medicare Advantage<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>TRS-Care Medicare Rx<\/strong>\u00a0logos on materials you\u2019ll receive in the mail. Follow the links to learn how to sign up in each scenario.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re not currently receiving Social Security benefits, you\u2019ll need to do one of the following to enroll in Medicare:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Visit ssa.gov and apply online<\/li>\n<li>Call SSA toll-free at 1-800-772-1213 from 7 a.m. \u2013 7 p.m., Monday \u2013 Friday. During this time, we encourage you to sign up for a TRS-Care Medicare &amp; You webinar which will give an overview on enrollment, eligibility, and the \u00a0medical and prescription drug benefits available to you.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Explore the TRS-Care Medicare Advantage plan benefits<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nSix months before your 65th birthday, we\u2019ll send you details about your TRS-Care Medicare Advantage benefits.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>TRS-Care Medicare Enrollment Packet<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nThree months before your 65th birthday, we\u2019ll send you an enrollment application which you can fill out if you want to add dependents. Please note: this enrollment opportunity is not available to dependent spouses or children when they turn 65.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"trs-CQWP-DecisionTree-ItemTitle trs-CQWP-DecisionTree-ItemTitle-Parent trs-CQWP-DecisionTree-UniqueID9\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Retiring<\/span><\/h3>\n<div class=\"trs-CQWP-DecisionTree-ItemTitle-ShortDescription\">\n<p>If you\u2019re retiring and about to be eligible for Medicare\u00a0<strong>or<\/strong>\u00a0you\u2019re already eligible, TRS will send you an enrollment packet that includes the TRS-Care Guide for Medicare-eligible participants and a TRS-Care application (TRS 700M).<\/p>\n<p>TRS will send this once we receive and process your retirement application (TRS 30) and determine you\u2019re eligibility for TRS-Care.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to enroll in TRS-Care, you should complete the TRS 700M and return it to TRS.<\/p>\n<p>During this \u201cInitial Enrollment period,\u201d you can also add your eligible dependents to TRS-Care coverage. They\u2019ll be enrolled in the appropriate plan based upon their Medicare status (e.g., if your spouse isn&#8217;t yet eligible for Medicare, he or she will be enrolled in the TRS-Care Standard plan).<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re applying for disability retirement, TRS will send you a TRS-Care enrollment packet once your disability retirement is approved.<\/p>\n<p>If you choose not to enroll in TRS-Care during your Initial Enrollment period, you do not need to take any action.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Teacher Retirement System of Texas : Are you turning 65 soon?
