After applying, you will receive a confirmation number. This confirmation number shows your pre-application has been received. <strong>Applying does not guarantee placement on a waiting list.<\/strong>\u00a0To check your status on the waiting list, please go to Applicant Portal at\u00a0https:\/\/mshda.myhousing.com\/account\u00a0approximately 24 hours after your application has been submitted.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Maintaining Your Status on the Waiting List<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>If you are added to the waiting list, you will be notified by mail when your name comes to the top of the waiting list or if we are updating our files. If you do not respond to our notifications, or your letter is returned undeliverable, <strong>your name will be removed from the waiting list<\/strong>. If you have a change of address, phone number, income or family size, you must notify us within 10 business days of the change.\u00a0<strong><u>ALL CHANGES MUST BE IN WRITING.\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><strong>No changes will be taken over the phone.<\/strong> Please include your social security number on any correspondence.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Program Eligibility<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In order to receive assistance:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The head of household must be at least 18 years of age at the time of this pre-application or an emancipated minor by a court of competent jurisdiction, consistent with Michigan law.<\/li>\n<li>The household annual income cannot exceed the income limits established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Please see current\u00a0income limits.<\/li>\n<li>The applicant and all adult members of the household must pass a criminal background check.<\/li>\n<li>Applicant and all adult members of the family must pass a criminal background check.<\/li>\n<li>The applicant or any member of the household may never have been convicted of manufacturing or producing methamphetamine on the premises of any federally-assisted housing or be subject to a lifetime registration requirement under a state sex offender registration program.<\/li>\n<li>All assistance requires the appropriate submission and verification of documentation of citizenship or eligible immigration status. Documentation will be requested after your name is selected for assistance. If you are a non-citizen claiming eligible immigration status, you will be required to present Form I-551, Form I-94, or Form I-688. You may only apply once and your best chance of being selected is to apply for the waiting list in the county in which you live or work. At the time you are selected from the waiting list, you will be required to provide proof of each preference claimed.
