A $100 million class-action settlement may be available to certain Verizon customers, but they must take immediate action to be eligible. The case was filed by Verizon Wireless subscribers who claimed that their monthly bills were unfairly increased with an additional “administrative charge” in an effort to “extract additional cash” from them.

The money is part of a settlement that Verizon paid out last year to customers who were both present and former. Attorneys for Verizon customers claim in the lawsuit that the firm “deceived” customers by illegally adding an extra “administrative charge” to their monthly bills “without [their] consent.”
The lawsuit further states that attorneys for Verizon “uniformly charged them higher monthly rates than it advertised and promised” and that the company “never adequately or honestly disclosed” the fee to clients prior to their service subscription.
On the settlement webpage, Verizon states that it is not guilty. Upon CBS MoneyWatch’s request for comment, the corporation did not immediately answer.

Who can receive a payment?
As shown in the settlement agreement, compensation will be provided to current and former Verizon customers who had a postpaid wireless or data service plan and were charged a “Administrative Chargeand/or an Administrative and Telco Recovery charge” between Jan. 1, 2016, and Nov. 8, 2023.
Customers with postpaid wireless plans pay for their services when their monthly billing cycle ends.

How much is the payout?
Depending on the claimant’s length of time as a Verizon customer, the initial reimbursement for qualified customers will range from $15 to $100.
How do I get my money back?
Those impacted In order to receive reimbursement, Verizon customers are required to use the claims website. In order to access the online site where claims can be filed, eligible consumers should look for an email that contains a notice ID and confirmation code.
You can submit a print claim by printing out a form from the claims website, filling it out, and then mailing it to the address provided.
Claims must be submitted no later than April 15, as stated on the settlement website. Compensation will not be paid to claimants whose filings are received after that date. They will also give up their ability to sue Verizon for the claims that the deal has already addressed.
If your claim was approved, you will get your portion of the settlement either by electronic payment or a cheque from Verizon, according to the settlement site.
If you plan to sue Verizon separately for any of the allegations made in the class action, you should choose not to participate.
