The White House plans to push Vice President Biden’s $1 trillion US infrastructure plan.
The $1 trillion infrastructure measure passed by Congress last week is being promoted by Vice President Joe Biden and other Cabinet members on the road to explain when and where Americans may expect to see some of the cash in their own neighbourhoods.
A signing ceremony for the infrastructure package, which passed the House of Representatives on Friday night after months of wrangling, is expected to take place this week, according to White House officials.
On Wednesday, Vice President Joe Biden will travel to the Port of Baltimore, Maryland, to support the measure. On Monday, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was scheduled to appear at the White House daily news conference to answer questions about the plan.
While Buttigieg and Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm are on the road, Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, EPA Administrator Michael Regan, and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo are also on the road.
“Democrats delivered,” according to a DNC insider, is the tagline the party plans to introduce in light of the bill’s passage.
Many federal agencies and state governments will get large sums of money to repair and build new roads and bridges, as well as to expand broadband access and improve public transportation.
Democrats and Vice President Joe Biden are given a much-needed boost of morale after the president’s poll numbers have begun to decline. Local elections last week yielded victories for the Republican Party, including a victory for Virginia’s governor and an unexpectedly tight race in New Jersey, a strongly Democratic state.
