The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) provides two primary methods for applying for the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant:
1. Online Application through the SRD Website:
• Visit the official SRD website: Go to srd.sassa.gov.za.
• Click “Apply Online”: Look for the button and click it.
• Verify Contact Information: Enter your cellphone number and click “Send SMS.”
• OTP Verification: Enter the One Time Pin (OTP) sent to your phone.
• Complete the Application: Follow the prompts, providing all necessary personal, financial, and consent information.
• Submit: Review your application and submit it online.
2. WhatsApp Application:
• Save SASSA Number: Save 082 046 8553 to your contacts.
• Start Chat: Open WhatsApp and message “Hi” to the saved number.
• Follow Instructions: The automated response will guide you through the process, asking for similar information as the online application.
• Submit: Once you provide all details, your application will be submitted directly through WhatsApp.

Important Considerations:
• Eligibility: Ensure you meet the eligibility criteria before applying (e.g., South African citizen/permanent resident, over 18, unemployed, no other social grant, etc.).
• Required Information: Have your ID number, banking details, contact information, and proof of income (if any) ready.
• Application Status: You can check your application status on the SRD website or through WhatsApp.
SRD 350 Grant Apply
The SRD grant amount is currently R350 and it is only available for a specific period determined by the South African government.
To apply for the SRD R350 grant, you have two main options:
Online through the SRD website:

- Click on “Apply Online” and follow the instructions.
