Pokémon GO is celebrating New Year’s 2025 with a festive event featuring costumed Pokémon, bonuses, and fireworks! Encounter festive Pokémon wearing party hats and other New Year’s-themed attire. 

Here’s a summary of what you can expect:

Dates & Times:

  • Start: Monday, December 30, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. local time
  • End: Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time

Features:

  • Costumed Pokémon: Encounter festive Pokémon wearing party hats and other New Year’s-themed attire. Some of the featured Pokémon include:
    • Jigglypuff wearing a ribbon
    • Hoothoot wearing a New Year’s outfit
    • Wurmple wearing a party hat
  • Shiny Pokémon: Increased chance of encountering Shiny versions of the featured costumed Pokémon.
  • XP Bonus: Earn 2,025 XP for catching Pokémon with Excellent Throws.
  • Fireworks: Enjoy a dazzling display of fireworks in the in-game sky throughout the event.
  • Event-themed PokéStop Showcases: Participate in Showcases at PokéStops featuring event-themed Pokémon.

Event Bonuses

  • 2,025 XP for catching Pokémon with Excellent Throws.

  • Stock up on Poké Balls: You’ll need plenty of Poké Balls to catch all the costumed Pokémon.
