Malayalam, Tamil actor Chitra passes away due to heart attack

In the 1980s, Chitra was a well-known Tamil actress. Her role in ‘Cheran Pandian’ is prevalent as Sarathkumar’s younger sister. After acting in a Nallennai commercial which went viral, she continued to play in films and series and was later surnamed Nallennai Chithra.

This morning Chitra died of a heart attack, lived with her husband and daughter in Chennai. Her body was taken to the hospital now.

The actress’ fame with the advertisements of an oil company is popularly referred to as the “Nallennai Chithra.” Chitra has been involved in over 100 films since she started her film career in the 80s and starred in Malayalam and Tamil against major actors. In her 1975 film Apoorva Raagangal, she started as a child artist with K Balachander and started in 1983 in the movie Attakalasham as an adult.

Chitra, living with her husband and daughter in Chennai, died of a heart attack this morning.

On May 21 last, Chitra celebrated her birthday. “It was very please to welcome some people on the 21st of May this year,” Chitra said in an interview with a web portal. Now that Chitra died on the 21st of the same year, her friends have been deeper concerned.
