For Xfinity select content, you have the option to upgrade your Xfinity subscription directly through my.xfinity.com/upgrade so that you may view it. To upgrade your subscription using the Xfinity Stream web portal, please ensure that you’re using a supported Operating System and Web Browser.
When browsing content on the Xfinity Stream web portal, Xfinity Stream app on Roku, or app on Android mobile devices, you may wish to view a TV program or movie that is not available in your current Xfinity TV subscription.
Upgrade Your Subscription
Supported Operating Systems and Web Browsers
- Operating Systems: Windows 7 and above, Mac OSX 10 and above
- Browsers: Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome 31 and above, Safari 10 and above, Firefox 24 and above
- Unsupported operating systems and browsers will display the following message: Your system isn’t compatible with Xfinity Stream.
To upgrade your subscription, follow these steps:
1. From the Main Menu, you can select Live TV and the channel you wish to watch, or select Browse, then Networks, Movies or TV or watch content on demand.
2. If you select a channel that requires you to subscribe to the channel, you will see a message stating, “This requires a subscription.” You can then select Subscribe.
3. If you choose a program or movie that requires that you rent, buy or subscribe, you will see messaging that presents you with those options. If you wish to subscribe, select the program or Movie Info then select the Subscribe button.

4. Upon clicking Subscribe, information will appear about the cost of service. If there are multiple subscription options, you will be presented with all of them and will need to select the option you wish to add.
5. If you have a purchase pin set, you must enter your purchase PIN and select Confirm to continue.
6. Once you choose your desired option (Rent/Buy/Subscribe), select Confirm.
7. You will then see a confirmation message.
Important Notes:
1. If a program requires that you be connected to in-home WiFi to watch, you will be prompted with a message to confirm that you wish to upgrade your Xfinity TV subscription.
2. If you are an SD-only customer using the Xfinity Stream app on Roku and wish to subscribe to an HD channel, you’ll need to add HD service.
- Messaging regarding this requirement will be displayed before you confirm your selection.
- If you are an SD-only customer using the Xfinity Stream app for iOS, Android, or the Xfinity Stream Web Portal, you will not see the on screen message to upgrade to HD service.
