Virtual learning allows all students to connect, collaborate, interact, learn and create in the online environment. At VSV, our students learn through online courses, real-time online classes and face-to-face communication.
Virtual School Victoria (VSV), previously known as Distance Education Centre Victoria, is one of the largest State Government schools in Victoria. Here’s how you can access it:
- Enrollment Categories: VSV exists to meet the educational needs of Victorian students who can’t access mainstream schooling due to various circumstances. Students must fall under one of these five enrollment categories: medical (physical), medical (social and emotional), travel, sports/performance, distance, or young adults.
- Direct Enrollment: To directly enroll with VSV, follow these steps:
- Visit the VSV Direct Enrollment page.
- Complete the enrollment form.
- You’ll receive login details to access VSV Online, their secure learning environment.
- VSV Online: Access the Webex classes and learning materials through VSV Online at lms.vsvonline.vic.edu.au. You can also find it via the icon on the front of the VHAP/VSV Portal.

Students participate remotely and log in to online lessons and online course materials in our learning management system, VSV Online. Online classes are live lessons between students and teachers. They provide an opportunity for students to meet and learn with their teachers and classmates via a webconferencing platform. These classes enable students to participate in a range of ways.
Students can email, phone and visit their teachers at VSV. There are also excursions and on-site activities available for students.

Who is eligible to attend VSV?
VSV exists to meet the educational needs of Victorian students whose circumstances prevent them from accessing full-time mainstream schooling.
Students wishing to maintain their current enrolment in a mainstream school and complete one (for Year 7-10 students) or two (for Year 11 and 12 students) subjects can apply on the website.
If a student wishes to enrol directly with us, they must fall under one of the six enrolment categories: Medical (Physical or Social/Emotional), Travel, elite Sports/Performance, Distance, Young Adult or Previous Home Schooler. You can enrol directly on website.
VSV teaches the Victorian Curriculum from Foundation to Year 10. We then teach the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) in Year 11 and Year 12.
What subjects are offered at VSV?
VSV currently delivers 274 subjects. An additional 18 VCE subjects will be developed by 2023, making it the first school in the state to offer all VCE subjects to Victorian students, with the exception of VCE languages.

What are the expected school hours?
Almost all subjects at VSV offer online classes, and these are traditionally scheduled during a normal school day. In some cases, classes may run at the end of the school day to maximise the opportunity for students to attend.
VSV provides flexibility for students. While some learning does take place during regular school hours, students can determine when and where they complete course work to meet course requirements.
Students are expected to attend online classes unless they have an exemption.

To access VHAP content, press the big green button and login using the details provided by your school High-Ability Practice Leader (HAPL). This is the teacher at your school who coordinates your VHAP studies.

If you are a VHAP student and also study with VSV:
– For your VHAP studies please press the big green button and use the details provided by your HAPL.
– For your VSV studies please press the big yellow button and use your student_id@vsv.vic.edu.au login details.
If you receive this error, please ensure you are entering the correct login details. Your login details are outlined in the “Welcome Letter” you received during January, or when you enrolled.
