Sainik Schools Society (SSS) is an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Defence, Govt of India. The Society runs Sainik Schools. Sainik Schools are English medium residential schools affiliated to CBSE. Sainik Schools prepare Cadets to join the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla (Pune), Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala and other Training Academies for officers. At present there are a total of 33 Sainik Schools across the country.
Sainik Schools offer admission at the level of Class VI and Class IX.
Ministry of Defence (MoD) has approved 18 New Sainik Schools, which operate in partnership with NGOs/private schools/State Governments. These approved New Sainik Schools function under the aegis of Sainik Schools Society.
These approved New Sainik Schools offer admission to Saink School Stream at the level of Class VI only.
Admission to both Sainik Schools as well as New Sainik Schools is based on the performance of candidates in the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE).
Thus, AISSEE 2023 covers admission to:
- Class VI and Class IX of the Sainik Schools and
- Class VI of the New Saiink Schools for the academic year 2023-24.

AISSEE 2023 is common for those who are seeking admission to Sainik Schools and those who are seeking admission to approved New Sainik Schools. Both have to have to appear in AISSEE 2023 and qualify for admission to Sainik Schools or approved New Sainik Schools.
Sainik School Society has entrusted the responsibility of conducting the AISSEE-2023 to the National Testing Agency(NTA) for the academic year 2023-24.
NTA will be conducting the AISSEE 2023 in the paper pen mode in 180 cities across India.
The responsibility of NTA is limited to inviting online applications for AISSEE 2023, conduct of the AISSEE 2023, processing and declaration of result and providing the merit list to the SSS.
