Twitch has brought in a complete change in the landscape of user interface and online affiliate programs. The organization that Twitch has managed to build over the last couple of years has surpassed all kinds of previously made records.
And now this same organization stands tall making Twitch more popular and favorable than ever. Twitch, on the other hand, has retained its consistency in providing top-notch updates and features, and always rolling even more advanced versions of the previous upgradations.
How to Broadcast from your Xbox
- Go to the store on your Xbox and install the Twitch app.
For first time users, create or log into an existing Twitch account on Twitch.tv on your PC or mobile device, and make sure you’re using the Xbox Live gamertag you want to link to your Twitch account.
- Open the Twitch app on your Xbox.
- Select Log In.
- Visit twitch.tv/activate on your PC or mobile device and enter the 6-digit code shown on your Xbox app to link your Twitch account to your Xbox Live gamertag.
- In Settings > Account > Privacy and Online Safety > Xbox Live Privacy > View Details and Customize > Online status & history > Others can see if you’re online, select Everybody. This allows everyone to see your broadcast.
- In Settings > Account > Privacy and Online Safety > Xbox Live Privacy > View Details and Customize > Game Content > You can broadcast gameplay, select Allow.
- In Settings > Account > Privacy and Online Safety > Xbox Live Privacy > View Details and Customize > Game Content > You can share content made using Kinect or another camera, select Allow.
- Check that your microphone and webcam are enabled so your viewers can see and hear you.
- Set a title for your broadcast and select Start Broadcast! Your game title will be updated automatically once you begin broadcasting a game.
Level Up Your Stream
We’ve partnered with Streamlabs and Lightstream (two cloud-based live streaming services that are set up via web browser) to help Xbox creators add overlays, alerts, different scenes, and more to their stream without needing to invest in a streaming computer or capture card.
Streamlabs Studio
Streamlabs Studio currently supports Twitch broadcasts from Xbox One X|S and Xbox Series X|S. A plan is required to use Streamlabs Studio. Plans start at $4.99/month and unlimited streaming is included. For more details on different plan options, or support for your existing plan visit Streamlabs Studio.
To use Streamlabs Studio:
- Log in to Streamlabs Studio on a PC or mobile device with Twitch at streamlabsstudio.com.
- Personalize your stream with overlays, alerts, multiple scenes, and more.
- Log in to the Twitch Xbox app, go to the Broadcast tab, and select Streamlabs Studio in the Destination field.
- Go live! Your stream output will automatically be directed to Streamlabs Studio and your overlays, alerts, and other customizations will be layered on before the stream is broadcasted on Twitch.
- Use your mobile device as a remote control by going to streamlabsstudio.com so you can easily switch scenes while you stream.
Streamlabs Studio currently only supports 720p broadcast for Xbox One X|S and Xbox Series X|S. If you receive an error while attempting to stream, please try a lower resolution.
Lightstream Integration
To use the Lightstream integration, you must purchase a plan from Lightstream. Plans start at $8/month, and unlimited streaming through this integration is included in any Lightstream plan. For more details on the different plan options, or support for your current plan, please visit Lightstream.
To use Lightstream:
- Log in to Lightstream Studio with Twitch in any non-mobile browser at https://gamer.golightstream.com/.
- Personalize your stream with overlays, alerts, multiple scenes, and more.
- Log in to the Twitch Xbox app, go to the Broadcast tab, and select Lightstream in the Destination field.
- Go live! Your stream output will automatically be directed to Lightstream and your overlays, alerts, and other customizations will be layered on before the stream is broadcasted on Twitch.
- Use your mobile device as a remote control by going to https://remote.golightstream.com/ so you can easily switch scenes while you stream.
Your Xbox Live Reputation
Your Xbox Live account must be in good standing (i.e. not have a reputation that is too low).
Permission Error
If you receive an error informing you that your account does not have broadcast permission, this could be because:
- You have not enabled the ability to broadcast in your privacy settings.
- You are a minor and your parent / guardian has disabled broadcasting.
- You are banned from broadcasting.
Privacy Settings
You must be signed in with Adult privacy settings (i.e. all settings enabled). Make sure there are no Child profiles signed in when trying to broadcast.
Party Chat
If you are unable to hear yourself or others on your broadcast. Please review the Privacy and Online Safety Settings for your account. Check your settings and make sure you allow audio to be shared outside of Xbox Live. In addition, members of your party must also opt-in to share their voice chat on stream.
Twitch Stream Key
Try resetting your stream key once by going to your Dashboard and clicking the Channel tab under Preferences, then click Reset at the top of the page – just once!
