How to Migrate your Mojang Account to a Microsoft Account (No Parental Consent Needed)
Migrating to a New Microsoft Account
If you do not currently have a Microsoft account, please follow the steps below to create one, and successfully migrate your Mojang account.
- Login to minecraft.net with your Mojang account and find the prompt IT’S YOUR TURN TO MOVE! on your profile page and click MOVE MY ACCOUNT. The launcher message about migration will also redirect you to the profile page.
- You will need to verify your email by receiving a code to the email currently on your Mojang account. Click GET CODE and check your email for the confirmation code.
- Enter the code in the box shown and click SUBMIT AND START MIGRATION.
- You will be prompted to create a new Microsoft account and password. Please note that you will be unable to use a work or school email address.
- If you already have an active Microsoft account that you would like to use, click Use another account and skip below to the “Existing Microsoft Account” section of this article.

- You will then see a screen asking you to confirm your country and date of birth. This information will be prefilled from your Mojang account.
- The next step will ask you to create your Xbox profile and Gamertag.

- Once you have confirmed you want to complete the move, that’s all there is to it! Your Minecraft account will have been migrated to your new Microsoft account, and you will see the following confirmation message.
- When you restart the launcher for the first time after migration, you may be taken to the Mojang login screen, or a screen still asking you to migrate. Please use the ‘Go Back’ button OR the ‘X’ (depending on which of the below screens you see) to get back to the login selection screen. You will then select ‘Microsoft Login’ to enter your new credentials.
Migrating to an Existing Microsoft Account

If you already have an active Microsoft account, please follow these steps to migrate your Mojang account.

- You will be prompted to enter your Microsoft account password and confirm your existing Gamertag/profile.
- Please keep in mind that your Microsoft Gamertag and your Minecraft username will be independent of each other, and additional information can be found here. Your Minecraft username will transfer over automatically, and your Gamertag will remain unchanged.
- A final screen will ask you to COMPLETE MOVE and provide you with a few extra details. You will also see a link allowing you to go back and choose a different Microsoft account at this time if you’ve accidentally used the incorrect account.
- After you have confirmed the move, that’s all there is to it! Your Minecraft account will have been migrated to your existing Microsoft account, and you will see a confirmation message.
