How to Connect Airpods to Roku TV : Listen to Roku Through Airpods

Initially, the Roku Private Listening feature allowed you to connect a pair of wired headphones to your Roku remote and listen to your Roku device’s audio. However, Roku has expanded the Roku Private Listening feature to include the Roku app for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices, allowing you to listen to your Roku device’s audio through up to four Bluetooth headphones.

This feature is only available on the most recent Roku devices, including the Roku Streaming Stick and Roku Ultra. The YouTube video above and the image collection beneath the steps both contain examples of all instructions in the steps.

How to Connect Airpods to Roku TV

1. On your Airpods, launch the Roku app. If you don’t already have the Roku app installed on your device, you’ll need to do so and configure it before proceeding. You’ll be redirected to your Roku home screen.

2. On the home screen, tap “More.” The More menu will appear.

3. In the Device section, tap the name of the device to which you are currently connected. A list of your Roku devices that are connected is displayed. In this list, tap the name of the device you wish to control with the app and enable the Roku private listening feature. You’ll be returned to the More menu, where the Device section will now display the Roku device you selected.

4. Ascertain that your Bluetooth wireless headphones are paired with your iPhone, iPad, or Android device.

5. Select “Control” from the screen’s menu. This brings up the Roku Control screen.

6. On the Roku Control screen, tap the “Private Listening” icon. The icon for Private Listening resembles a pair of headphones. You should now see an audio wave between the two headphone cups, indicating that Roku Private Listening has been enabled. Additionally, immediately after you enable the feature, a Roku Private Listening icon will appear in the upper right corner of your Roku screen.

Now, any audio from your Roku device will be played through the headphones you’ve connected. At any time, you can disable Roku Private Listening by tapping the Roku Private Listening icon on the Control screen. This will disable the audio wave between the icon’s two headphone cups, indicating that the feature has been disabled.
