How to Claim the Kentucky Office of Unemployment Insurance @ https://uiclaimsportal.ky.gov
All active claimants in Kentucky are being required to re-register their online accounts with more complex passwords in an effort to combat an uptick in fraudulent activity intended to steal unemployment benefits, the state’s unemployment agency announced this week.
Cyber crooks are hacking into unemployment accounts and diverting payments by utilising compromising personal information, such as Social Security numbers, and by taking advantage of easy PINs
A number of Kentuckians have recently complained that their personal identification numbers, which they need to access their internet accounts, had been changed without their permission. Some people have also stated that their banking information has been compromised
Log on to uiclaimsportal.ky.gov
- Log on to uiclaimsportal.ky.gov or visit the unemployment homepage, kcc.ky.gov, to start the registration process.
- Create a new 12-character password using a mix of letters, numbers and special characters, such as a question or exclamation mark.
- Claimants will need an email account. They will need to verify the email address using a process called two-factor authentication. The state will send a code to the email address (you may need to check your spam or junk folder), which claimants will then need to enter during the re-registration process. The state warns that the use of the same email for multiple claims (such as a couple sharing one email) may cause problems with the state’s new security features.
- Use the new eight-digit PIN included in the letter that the state has mailed out.
- Once successfully re-registered, review all your information and ensure it’s correct.
- A detailed, step-by-step guide to re-registering can be found at kcc.ky.gov and on the Kentucky Career Center’s YouTube page.

What should I do if I am unable to reach the call centre?
While Beshear warned of extended hold times, he also highlighted that the call centre will only have 50 personnel on duty during the first and last hour of the day.
According to the governor, those who aren’t due to apply for benefits this week should refrain from calling the contact centre and instead wait for their benefits letter to arrive in the mail.
You will be able to complete the process after your letter with your new PIN has arrived.
I received a letter, but I did not file for unemployment benefits. What am I supposed to do?
The recipients of the letter with the new PIN who have never applied for unemployment benefits may have had an unemployment claim falsely opened in their name.
The scammers have been filing legitimate claims on behalf of real people in several states since the beginning of the outbreak, utilising stolen personal information in an attempt to get unemployment compensation benefits.
