You can register your card for free. If you ever lose your card, we’ll send you a new one with your balance restored, for a small fee. You can also get your history and manage your account online or in the Clipper app — anytime!
If you buy your card in person, it’s easy to register it online, and your card and balance are protected. If you buy an adult card online or in the Clipper app — or if you have a Youth, Senior or RTC Clipper card — it’s automatically registered.

Call the Clipper Customer Service Center at 877-878-8883 and use the automated phone service to hear your balance and your last 10 transactions. You can also log in to your regular Clipper account to see your balance and download a transaction history.
Unlike a credit or debit card, the Clipper card does not expire; however, you will need to renew your eligibility for Clipper START once every two years to continue receiving the discount.

How much is the discount?
The following discounts will be available on single-ride fares and transfers when using the Clipper START card: 50% on Muni, Caltrain, Golden Gate Transit and Ferry, Marin Transit, San Francisco Bay Ferry and SMART and 20% on BART, Petaluma Transit, Santa Rosa CityBus and Sonoma County Transit. Note the Golden Gate Transit and Ferry discount will not be available on “Early Bird” East Bay fares, or Oracle Park and Chase Center special event ferry service.
